B6·Anaheim Gazette (Anaheim, Calif., January 15, 1950) SCOUTING NEWS Nine Leaders Chosen For Golden Jubilee The nine leaders for the Three Golden Jubilee Jamboree troops of Boy Scouts from the Northern Orange County Council have selected, Walt Reisterer, chairman of the Jamboree committee, announced. Scoutmaster of Troop 1 is B. L. "Sam" Hall, Rossmore, Robert Huff, Anaheim and A. John Vander Linden, Rossmore, are assistant Scoutmasters. Troop 2 will be led by James Starr, Fullerton, as Scoutmaster, and Norman Moldenhauer, Anaheim, and Robert Morgan, Fullerton, as assistant Scoutmasters. Tony de Fazio, Buena Park, is Scoutmaster of Troop 3, with Tony Padilla, Anaheim, and Vince Duncan, as assistant Scoutmasters. The three Jamboree troops are total of 111 Boy Scouts who come special troops composed of a total of 111 Boy Scouts who come from all over the Northern Orange County Council area. They and their leaders will fly by special chartered jet plane to Colorado Springs in July to take part in the Golden Jubilee Jamboree celebration of Boy Scouting. Tony de Fazio, leading Troop 3, is camping chairman of the Anaheim district. Troop 3 assistant Scoutmasters Tony Padilla and Vince Duncan are Scoutmasters of Troops 73 and 21 respectively of Anaheim district. Alternate leaders include Ted Stewart of Fullerton, who is chairman of leadership training for Los Ranchos district, and Bob Perigan of Buena Park. Organization and extension chairman of Walter Knott district. 2 Anaheim Women Chosen As Officers In Republican Club Two Anaheim women have been elected to officers positions in the Young Republicans of Orange County. They are Mrs. Robert Scott, Air Force (Luftwaffe). The 4th Division's 66th Armor, Lee's parent unit which was formerly stationed at the Kaserne, has moved to a new installation in the Nurnberg area. A welder in the armor's Headquarters Company, he entered the army in November, 1958, and completed basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, before arriving overseas last June. The 1955 Anaheim high school graduate worked for the Scott Co. in North Hollywood prior to entering the Army. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred W. Lee, live at 531 S. Dickel St. Andrew B. Beard, airman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Beard of 704 Boxwood, Anaheim, spent Christmas day on Midway Island in the Pacific while serving with Airborne Barrier Service Squadron Two. Midway is the hub of operations for Barrier Pacific, a 1,500-mile extension of the Distant Early Warning line of radar defense stations. Marine Acting Sgt. Joseph G. A. Lahouiller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lehouillier of 1326 Brewster Ave., Anaheim, and husband of the former Miss Irene quarters and Headquarters Squadron One, a unit of the First Marine Aircraft Wing at the Marine Corps Air Facility, Iwakuni, Japan. The First Wing provides helicopter assault transportation, tactical aid and all-weather intercept support for the Okinawa-based Third Marine Division infantry units. John R. Clark, radarman second class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Clark of 818 Cottonwood circle, Anaheim, and husband of the former Miss Diane R. Pinchot of 329 Hamphire Ave., Anaheim, was promoted to the present rate Dec. 16 while serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Gremerton, Wash. Marine Pvt. Gerald T. Liptan, Two Anaheim women have been elected to officers positions in the Young Republicans of Orange County. They are Mrs. Robert Scott, JAMES KEYES vice-president and Miss Wilberta Gamelin, treasurer. James Keyes of Laguna Beach was named president of the club for 1960, succeeding John Tyler of Stanton. Keyes is also president of the Young Republicans' Santa Ana Unit. He was recently appointed to the Orange County Republican Central Committee. Other new officeholders are Mrs. Charles Downey of Fullerton, a vice-president and Mrs. Kay Wooden of Orange, secretary. The club has units in Anaheim, Orange, Santa Ana, Fullerton, Newport Beach and West Orange County. Military preparedness is still a good peace policy for the United States. Marine Pvt. Gerald T. Liptan, 2032 Harriet Lane, Anaheim, recently completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Calif. The 11-week course included instruction in all basic military subjects and infantry weapons. Upon completion of training new Marines are assigned to a unit for further infantry training, or to one of the many Marine Corps schools. Army, Pvt. Gary W. Griebel, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell W. Griebel, 2740 W. Bridgeport Ave., Anaheim, is receiving eight weeks of advanced individual training at the Artillery and Missile Center, Fort Sill, Okla. The training is scheduled to end Jan. 25. Griebel is being trained to service and maintain the 105 millimeter howitzer, a light field artillery weapon. He entered the Army last September and completed basic training at Fort Ord, Calif. Griebel attended Western high school and was employed by Western Union before entering the Army. The Russians ought to know by this time that writing peaceful notes is not a good substitute for peaceful actions.
