B6 - Anaheim Gazette Anaheim, Calif., Friday, Dec. 15, 1958. With Anaheim in Van, West Orange County’s Five Cities Will Surpass 1958 in Building Construction With Anaheim in the van, West Orange County’s record-smashing construction this year will far surpass the high volume of 1958, though Anaheim’s total may be a bit below that 1958 figure. Total of building permit valuations for the 11 months ending Nov. 30, is $130,115,000 in the five west county cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Buena Park, Westminster and Stanton. For 1958, these five cities showed $111,482,000. Record year was 1955, presumably, but this cannot be determined precisely as Garden Grove, Westminster and Stanton were not then incorporated, and statistics were recorded with the county’s total non-city area. Run Neck and Neck Anaheim and Garden Grove have been running neck and neck this year. The 11 month reports shows $45,825,042 for Anaheim and $45,149,052 for Garden Grove. Buena Park has $27,549,215 for the 11 months; Stanton $6,003,262 and Westminster $5,589,940. Figures for November alone are Anaheim $4,110,505, Buena Park $2,131,933; Garden Grove $8,252,-219; Stanton $27,667 and West. west Orange County cities, except Westminster, over the full 12 months of 1958. James B. Utt.confirming approval of use of the land by the U.S. Corps of Engineers. Proposed for the area are a nine-hole golf course, a nine-hole pitch and putt course, clubhouse, children's community center, stadium, picnic area, a new YMCA Building and possibly a new Lions' Club Building. The site which is government land behind the Brea Flood Control Dam, will be available to the city on a 50-year lease which has been approved by the USED after an 18-month wait. The city had asked use of the land in 1958. The golf course will be built first, Hiltscher said. Revenue from the course will be plowed bac kinto the project to construct the other facilities included in the master plan, eliminating need to elig into tax dollars to provide the city with the major park and recreation facility. Women Are Interested Women's groups are sponsoring the children's center; other service clubs have indicated a desire to sponsor individual projects within the area, according to Hiltscher. Construction and grading of the golf course will begin in the spring, after the rains. Plans for the development are nearing completion. Hiltscher said today.
