Less Walking for Paying A brighter fair with less walking for the paying customers is the prospect today for the 1960 Orange County Fair following action of the 32nd District Agricultural Association Board of Directors. The board, in its regular monthly meeting, voted to ask the state for permission to build huge neon signs which will mark the main turnstile entrance of the fairgrounds in Costa Mesa and also will furnish a lighted marquee on Fair Drive at J Street, destined to be the main entrance to the grounds after future highway improvements are completed. New Signs The new signs will feature winking pirate queen which becoming a symbol of the local fair. Also, the fair board has asked state approval for construction of four trams to be used both the 50-acre fairgrounds parking lot and to provide a riding to of the grounds during next year’s fair. Four trams would be built for $5,000, if the State Fairs and Expositions Division approves.
