Box 147, Anaheim, Calif. Compensation Cases Heard In Santa Ana Senator John A. Murdy Jr. has received a letter from S. W. Maeddonald, chairman of the industrial accident commission of the state of California, announcing that Orange County was transferred from the administration of the Los Angeles office of the commission to its Santa Ana district office on October 1. In Santa Ana Office In the future, workmen's compensation cases arising from the Orange County area will be handled directly from Santa Ana and heard by referees assigned to the Santa Ana office. This transfer is consistent with Commission policy that cases involving an injured workman be heard as quickly as possible so that benefits can be awarded, where warranted, with the least amount of delay. Experience has shown that cases can be handled more expediently and with less inconvenience to all parties when processed through local district offices rather than through a main office. Quicker Service It is expected that the citizens of Orange County will gain in having better service and quicker decisions as a result of this transfer. Strict Discipline In High Schools To Be Maintained Southern California vice principals recently indicated the desire for the continuation of a strict discipline policy in high schools. The school administrators at their area meeting Montebello reported that students whose behavior problems are going down the opportunity for majority of students must firmly dealt with. Expulsion is necessarily be the answer many cases. Los Angeles Schools are currently investing this possible solution. Last Chance Agreements Parent agreements of a chance nature are increasingly use. This guarantees that any student who seriously wants an education would have the opportunity notwithstanding a bad health background. However, these questionable cases continue to cause trouble in schools they would be withdrawn by parents. The problem of students needing psychological aid was also mentioned at the meeting. However, if questionable cases continue to trouble in schools they will be withdrawn by their parents. The problem of students needing biological aid was also mentioned at the meeting. Existing health agencies have a difficult problem in the guidance of mentally disturbed youth. The general belief that students with extreme psychological difficulties cannot and should not be educated in the conventional school set up was expressed. Other items on the agenda included smoking and drinking issues in the secondary school situation, and the automatic suspension of students who broke certain basic rules. Practical methods for handling the two percent of high school students who occupy ninety percent of the school administrators time were reported.
