Total Patient Rehabilitation Is Kenny Foundation Objective
Minneapolis, Minn.—Teaching patients to develop to maximum use whatever muscular movement they have left, following injury or illness, is the aim of the total rehabilitation program of the Sister Elizabeth Kenny foundation, according to R. Bruce Reinecker, president.
Techniques originated by the late Sister Elizabeth Kenny for treatment of polio and perpetuated and developed further by the foundation bearing her name have been found effective in the care of many crippling and handicapping diseases, Reinecker pointed out.
"Important as this treatment is," he said, "it still is only one phase of the Kenny rehabilitation program for victims of neuromuscular disabilities and diseases, including polio."
"Along with treating patients to develop any remaining physical movements, our medical and other staff seek to help them solve other problems stemming from their disabilities. Wage earners, for example, often are taught new occupations. Homemakers are instructed in household short-cuts. Children of school age attend classes while hospitalized, or are taught by a bedside teacher.
"An adaptive equipment engineer designs and creates mechanical aids for individual patients. A recreational director supervises children at play and assists adults in developing hobbies. A social worker is available to help patients and their families work out financial problems. Emotional problems are dealt with by a psychologist or phychiatrist."
The Kenny foundation's program of direct patient aid, medical research, grants to universities and individual doctors as well as support of the activities of the American Rehabilitation foundation, its subsidiary, is made possible through contributions of the public, Reinecker concluded.

MAX V. ELIASON WAS THE CHOICE OF ANAHEIM VOTERS FOR MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE AT THE PRIMARY ELECTION
100 Per Cent
100 Per Cent
The office of Judge of Municipal Court is a nonpartisan office, and should be so treated.
It is seldom that a public office finds a man who is 100 per cent qualified to fill that office. But it has happened here.
Max V. Eliason is qualified in every particular for the office of Municipal Court judge — by temperament, ability, experience, character, and a willingness to work.
As Assistant District Attorney he has shown not only a marked ability to prosecute criminals successfully, but also an unusual regard for the protection of innocent persons.
He has been the scourge of the narcotic traffic in this county. He has recognized its threat to youth and, having six children of his own, has waged a tireless war against it. He obtained Grand Jury indictments of dope peddlers, even assisted in arresting some of them.
His own family is an incentive for his extensive work among young people and Sunday School affairs. As a former Juvenile Court Judge, he understands the pitfalls of youth and the important part a court plays in dealing with family problems.
Voters of the district recognized his special fitness for the office of Municipal Court judge at the June primary election, when they gave him a plurality of 4256 votes over his nearest opponent.
Municipal Court is your court. If you were to appear before it, Max V. Eliason is the kind of man you would want to have on the bench as your judge. Your lawsuit would get fair treatment. You can put him there with your vote, Nov. 4.
