FROZEN LEMON ICED TEA CUBES
1 cup fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons grated lemon peel
1 cup sugar
½ cup loose tea (15 teabags)
Mint flavoring to taste
1½ cups freshly boiling water.
Combine lemon juice, peel and sugar, stirring well to dissolve sugar. Pour boiling water over tea. Brew 5 minutes and strain into the lemon syrup. Pour into ice cube trays and freeze. (Makes one tray of cubes in a glass. Add % cup water and allow cubes to dissolve.. Add additional plain ice cubes if desired.
These cubes will not have the familiar clear amber color of iced tea, but neither the flavor nor thirst-quenching qualities are affected. Both the freezing and the lemon concentrate tend to turn the cubes dark brown in color.

Seattle Plans 1958 Seafair
BOB HOPE and Bing Crosby (center) will be honor guests at the 1958 Seattle Seafair celebration to be held this year from August 1 through August 10. Sports feature of the annual Pacific Northwest maritime mardi gras will be the 51st running of the Gold Cup Race on Sunday, August 10. The race (upper left picture) is the Kentucky Derby for the king-sized unlimited hydroplanes and will draw a half-million fans to the shores of Lake Washington. Entertainment highlight of Seattle's carnival will be the "Aqua Follies," a unique stage and pool show (upper right) to be staged nightly in a lakeside theatre. Spoilers for the land and sea fete are a make-believe crew of pirates headed by Davy Jones and Captain Kidd (lower left) whose chief aim in life is to upset the plans of King Neptune, supreme ruler of the carnival. Neptune and his court will head the grande parade on Saturday, August 2 (lower right) in a spectacular procession built around the theme of "popular fantasies."

LAW IN ACTION
NONSUIT
As a rule in a trial a lawyer first states the plaintiff's case and introduces his evidence of the wrong done. Then the lawyer for the "defendant" puts on his evidence in reply. Then come the rebuttal evidence and at last arguments, say, before the jury.
But if the plaintiff fails to make out a case in his first presentation of his claim against the defendant, the court may simply end the case by a "nonsuit."
Take Smith: Helping a friend in a door-to-door political campaign, he stumbled over a step he didn't see on the Jackson's front walk and broke his leg. He didn't know the Jacksons and had never called on them, nor had they invited him before.
When his broken leg was on the mend Smith sued the Jacksons, claiming that the step was in an unusual place and that he had no way of knowing where it was.
But at the trial Smith admitted that there was nothing wrong with the step and if he had been watching he might not have fallen.
With Smith's evidence all in, the Jacksons' lawyer asked the court for a nonsuit, which was granted. Smith had lost his case though the Jacksons did not even tell their story.
Since Smith did not show any negligence, the Jacksons did not need to put on any evidence to disprove it.
There must be a case at law before a judge or jury can look into the facts to see if they support the "allegations." If not, the court may rule out the case on "demurrer" before the trial starts. Or if it gets under way the judge may call it off to save time and money in useless litigation.
