While a member of California legislature, supported legislation which assured every worker the right to join a union of his choice. This outlawed the so-called "Yellow Dog Contract," and prohibited management from discriminating against hiring of union members.
Today Bill Knowland is a Candidate for Governor of California
He says to you: 1. The right of every American worker to belong to a union must continue to be effectively protected by law.
2. No American should be compelled to belong to a union to earn a living. Voluntary unionism will make unions responsible to their members and to the public.
3. Union members should enjoy the protection of a Workers' Bill of Rights which includes election of officers by guaranteed secret ballot and provision for recall of officers by secret ballot.

your buying guide to the greatest advance in cooking:
TOP BURNER HEAT CONTROL!
Ends Pot Watching Forever!
With Top Burner Heat Control, all you do is dial the desired cooking temperature. The sensing element takes over. It touches the pan, takes its temperature, then raises or lowers flame to maintain pre-set cooking temperature. Any pan you own becomes automatic. No wonder folks call this feature the “Burner with a Brain!” See the new Gas ranges that are automatic all the way—at your dealer or Gas Company.
Look what these features do for you! They are simply wonderful!
AUTOMATIC ROASTING THERMOMETER lets you cook meat to order—well-done, medium or rare. All you do is set the thermometer, insert it into roast. Oven shuts off automatically when meat is done.
ROTARY BARBECUE brings the flavor of outdoor cooking indoors—without the muss and fuss. Smoke, spatter vanish in the Gas Flame. As with broiling, Gas lets you barbecue with broiler door closed.
