ORANGE COUNTY PHILHARMONIC ORCHETRA will be presented in a free-admission concert at Garden Grove High School auditorium Saturday night, March 22, at 8:30 p.m. As a public service, free concerts are presented in various communities across the county during the season, nanced by donations from public-spirited individuals and business firms through the Orange County Philharmonic Society. LAURA M. SCHMIDT Laura M. Schmidt, a native of Louisiana, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital last Friday, Mar. 14. She had resided in Anaheim 15 years, the present home being at 131 La Plaza. Survivors are her husband, Earl J. Schmidt of Anaheim, and a brother, Maurice La Donohue of Lucerne Valley. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Greg Carter, pastor of the Science of the Mind Church in Santa Ana, at 11 a.m. on Monday from the chapel of Backs, Troutman and Kaulbars mortuary. Interment was in Loma Vista Memorial Park. MARY M. CHETELAT Mary M. Chetelat passed away at her home at 409 E. Chartres Street, this city, last Friday after a lingering illness. Born in Riffle, Colo., she had been a resident of Anaheim for 35 years. Surviving are her mother, Mrs. Carolyn Chetelat of the home here; a sister, Mrs. C. E. Phelps of Garden Grove, and two brothers, Chas. G. of Carson City, Nev., and Leo J. Chetelat of Sunset Beach. Rosary was recited at the Backs, Troutman and Kaulbars Mortuary chapel Monday at 7:30 p.m. and Mass was held Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Boniface Catholic Church, of which she was a member. Interment was in Loma Vista Memorial Park. WESTERN PACIFIC — George W. Nellesen, Jr., storekeeper third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Nellesen, Jr., of 410 W. Elm St., Anaheim, and husband of the former Miss Virginia I. Campbell is serving aboard the attack cargo ship USS Mathews operating in the Western Pacific. The Mathews left Long Beach Jan. 21 for her six-month tour of duty. She will participate in several large scale amphibious operations with other units in the fleet before her scheduled return in mid-July. FAR EAST — Marine Cpl. Bud E. Hurst, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman D. Hurst of 9622 Guinida Lane, Anaheim, is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge in the Far East as part of the U.S. Seventh Fleet. Hurst was promoted to his present rank Jan. 20. Before entering the service in July 1956, he attended Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, T. H. The Kearsarge is expected to return to the United States in April.
