Jaxsons to Open Store In Anaheim
Mrs. Mabel Hartnett will be manager of the Jaxsons ladies ready-to-wear store which will open in the Anaheim Park center at Placentia and Center Street this weekend, it has been announced.
Mrs. Hartnett has been with the Jaxson organization for several years and was manager of the Jaxsons Whittier store for 2½ years. She and her husband are Anaheim residents so Mrs. Hartnett is happy to be selected as manager for this new store.
Jaxsons will be carrying merchandise to meet the demands of the more discriminating shoppers and will feature such names in sportswear as Darlene Minidam sweaters, Copeland skirts and Rosemarie Reed and Jantzen swim suits. Mrs. Hartnett motioned with a wave of her arm to the section in the center of the store reserved for sweaters, and it is an impressive space indicated.
Council Candidates Town Hall Meeting
A town hall meeting, at which all eight candidates for the Anaheim city council will appear, has been scheduled for Thursday, March 20, at Fremont Junior High School auditorium, starting at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting, sponsored by both Anaheim newspapers, will give the citizens of Anaheim an opportunity to see and hear their candidates for councilmen. Each candidate will have time to explain his platform and give his views on city government.
Just how the meeting will be conducted has not been decided at this time but it is quite certain that written questions from those in attendance will be accepted and as many as possible will be answered by the candidates.
The purpose of this meeting is to inform the voters. There will be no charge for admission to the auditorium and the doors will be open at 7 p.m. Those in charge of arrangements for the meeting have indicated that the meeting will be closed as near 9 p.m. as possible.
Candidates for the city council at the April 8 election are: Robert S. Borden, Odra Chandler, Jack C. Dutton, Glenn G. Fry, Leo W. Harpin, John M. Lydick, Lee Morris, and A. J. Schutte. Those receiving the three highest votes will be declared elected to the three vacancies.
Jaxsons will be carrying merchandise to meet the demands of the more discriminating shoppers and will feature such names in sportswear as Darlene Minklam sweaters, Copeland skirts and Rosemarie Reed and Jantzen swim suits. Mrs. Hartnett motioned with a wave of her arm to the section in the center of the store reserved for sweaters, and it is an impressive space, indicating that the selection of sport sweaters would be unusually large.
Jaxsons have four other stores in southern California which give them increased buying power.
Stop in and look around in Jaxsons this weekend and meet Mrs. Hartnett.
