Labeled "the car of the year" by newsmen and technical writers who have attended private showings, the new model will be unveiled today, Thursday, in Chevrolet dealerships across the country. Also on public display for the first time will be the rakih 1958 Corvette and the latest in the Chevrolet truck line. The 1958 is new from bumper to bumper and from frame to roof line. The all-new features include; a completely re-styled car which is longer, lower and wider and emphasizes flowing sculptured lines from the dual headlamps to softly flared rear fenders; an X-shaped frame which allows a lower silhouette but retains ample head room and increases leg room and luggage space;; two suspension systems for a more luxurious ride along with remarkable handling, stability and durability. Sturdy coil springs, front and rear, are standard. A new, "Level Air" system which automatically adjusts to all load weights is optional. It also includes a 348-cubic inch engine which is new from fan to flywheel. Designed primarily a Nellie I. McDonald Death Last Thursday Mrs. Nellie L. McDonald, aged 65, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 24, in Santa Ana Community Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. McDonald, who was a native of Texas, came to California 18 years ago and for the past seven years had resided at 10152 Midwood Lane in Anaheim. She was a practical nurse. She is survived by a daughter; Mrs. William E. Shankling of Anaheim; five sisters, four in the east and Mrs. Nancy Goforth of Rosemead; and two granddaughters. She was a member of Westchester Methodist Church of Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles Writers Club. Funeral services were held on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Brown Colonial Chapel, with the Rev Robert R. Washer of the First Methodist Church of Garden Grove officiating. Interment followed in Melrose Abbey cemetery. J. Harry Campbell Claimed by Death J. Harry Campbell, Anaheim resident since 1948 died Wednesday morning of last week at the Parkview Convalescent Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Pennsylvania, he was 71 years old and came to California in 1946. He resided at 200 Mill Drive. Seven more public concerts allow to be given free of charge are planned between now and June according to Hay Langenheim president of the Orange County Philharmonic Society. Smith 55th Anniversary Congratulations and good wishes are the order of the day for Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Smith of 516 No. Claudina Street, who are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. The Smiths were married Oct. 29, 1902, in Jonesville, Mich., and lived in that area until 1955 when they came to Anaheim. Mr. Smith is a retired farmer and Mrs. Smith is a former school teacher and postmistress. They were guests of honor at a dinner given in the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Clifford Smith of 292 E. Alberta Street, on Tuesday, Oct. 29, and on the previous day Mrs. Catherine Haverty of 293 E. Alberta Street entertained them and a host of their friends at a tea, where a profusion of gifts and cards were showered on them. Their only daughter, Mrs. Herbert Holkins of Horton, Mich., has been visiting her parents this fall and will return to her home at the end of this week. ALPHA GAMMA SIGMA Elected to Alpha Gamma Sigma, California Junior College honor scholarship society, are two students from Anaheim, George W. Miller and Francis W. Nichols, Jr., receiving the honor for the second time. The scholarships are based on grades earned last semester and are selected from the top 10 per cent of fulltime day students. BACK FROM TOUR Fred W. Carthy, machinist's first class, USN, of 9071 Eola Dr., Anaheim, returned to San Diego, Oct. 16, aboard the destroyer USS Ammen after completing a six-month tour of duty in the Pacific. During the cruise the Ammen's crew visited Australia; Guam; Japan; Formosa; Hong Kong and Pearl Harbor. TO INSTALL PASTOR Rev. C. Gene Kuehl will be installed as pastor of Faith Community United Brethren Church of Christ, at 9621 Bixby Avenue in Garden Grove next Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3, at 3 o'clock. VFW Auxiliary Tell Bazaar Plans At the recent meeting of the VFW Auxiliary, plans for the annual bazaar on Nov. 22 and 23 were announced. Next meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 18, at 8 p.m. Building Here Gets Another Big Boost Permits for 87 new houses in Anaheim, with a valuation of $1,061,750, were issued recently, according to chief building inspector Homer Wallace. The newest project is a 60-acre tract, another Country Club Estate, located at Ninth Street and Katella Avenue. Builders are George J. Hiltzer and Associates of Los Angeles. A permit was issued to Kenneth K. Kimes of 535 W. Hampshire Avenue, for a 23-unit motel to be built at 615 W. Katella Avenue, with a valuation of $90,000. World Community Day Set For Nov. 1 The Rev. Eugene Coffin of Alamitos Friends Church will address the Anaheim Council of Christian Church Women on Nov. 1, when World Community Day is observed. His subject will be "Not By Bread Alone." The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with devotions in the First Methodist Church. Following will be a luncheon at which the guests will be entertained by a male quartet from Anaheim High School. Mrs. Harold Burns will preside and Mrs. Arthur Korn heads the committee which is asking all women to bring used nylon hose to send to Japan, as well as warm clothing and bedding for overseas relief. September, August and October have proved to be the most active months for hurricanes, according to records compiled by the Navy's "Hurricane Hunters". Since 1880, approximately 173 have occurred in September, 143 in August, and 133 in October. July, November and June are next in frequency in that order.
