Worcestershire sauce 2 tbsps. butter or margarine, cut up 1 clove garlic, minced ½ C. chopped green pepper Put rice, tomato juice, salt, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, butter or margarine, garlic and green pepper in a 2-quart saucepan. Bring to vigorous boil over high heat. Stir well. Cover with lid. Simmer over low heat 20 minutes or until tomato juice is absorbed. Stir once during cooking. Remove from heat but leave lid on until ready to serve, at least 10 minutes. Garnish with strips or rings of green pepper. This recipe makes 6 to 7 servings. LEMON CHIFFON PIE 1 package lemon chiffon pie filling mix ½ cup boiling water ½ cup very cold water ½ cup sugar 1 cooled baked 8- or 9-inch pie shell or graham cracker crust Place mix in a large deep mixing bowl. Add boiling water and mix thoroughly. Add very cold water and beat vigorously with rotary beater or at highest speed of electric mixer until mixture is very foamy—takes about 1 minute. Add sugar and beat until filling stands in peaks—takes 1 to 3 minutes. Pour into pie shell. Chill until set, about 2 hours. Serve plain or garnish with whipped cream if desired. WHIZ 16-OZ. Note: Store leftover pie in refrigerator covered with an inverted pie pan. IN GERMANY Army Specialist Third Class Charles L. Webb, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie C. Webb, 849 Redondo Drive, E. Anaheim, completed a two-week field training exercise Sept. 19 with the 10th Infantry Division at a maneuver area near Grafenwohr, Germany, Webb, assigned to the division's Company A, entered the Army in January, 1955, and completed basic training at Fort Riley, Kan. The 21-year-old soldier is a 1954 graduate of Anaheim Union High School. AT SANTA ANA Marine MSgt. Glendale Robinson of 620 N. Vine Street, Anaheim, is serving with the Station Operations and Engineering Squadron at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station at Santa Ana. COMPLETE COMBAT WORK Marine Privates Kenneth R. Phillips, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ewell L. Phillips of 8392 Rome Avenue, and Les G. Vance of 845 Cottonwood Circle, both of Anaheim, completed four weeks of individual combat training on September 13 at the Marine Corps Base at Camp Pendleton. The course included the latest infantry tactics, first aid, demolitions, field fortifications and advanced schooling on weapons.
