VARIED ACTIVITIES ARE LISTED BY ALL-YEAR CLUB FOR SEPTEMBER The biggest and most beautiful county fair in America hends a list of colorful events in the Southland during September, according to the calendar issued by the All-Year Club this week. There will be a 44-mile wave, a derby, a gold mining celebration, and the beautiful San Gabriel Fiesta. The Los Angeles County Fair, held Sept. 14-29 for its 30th year, comes accurately by its "biggest-beautiful" title. Only one state fair is bigger, and none has such a beautifully landscaped site as the 450-acre fairgrounds at Pomona. About 40 skiers behind fast motorboats will race from Long Beach to circle a buoy at Avalon Bay, and return, on Sept. 22. Boats will line the route. Randsburg, the still-living gold mining town in Kern county, holds its Old Time Mining Celebration Sept. 14-15 with a hermits' convention, gold panning and rock drilling contests and tours of the mines. The 186th birthday of the old mission will be commemorated by the San Gabriel Fiesta Sept. 6-8. The Grand Fiesta Parade Satudray afternoon is one of the most colorful in the country. Santa Monica holds its Bay Beach Festival Sept. 1-2 with paddleboard races, an ocean swimming race and a kiddle course parade. Highlighted by the "Run Olympics", the Antelope Valley Fair and Alfalfa Festival will hold Sept. 5-8 at Lancaster Women as well as men will ractors around a track lined bay bales. The All States Society confined picnic will be held at Browdy Park, Long Beach, Sept. 8. Burleigh, 50, a native of Illinois who came to California 14 years ago and who had resided at 815 West South St. In Anaheim for 12 years, died very unexpectedly at his home Sunday morning. He is survived by his wife, Fayann Burleigh; a daughter, Dorothy Joe Burleigh; two sons, Thomas Patrick and Michael Jack, all at home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren H. Burleigh of Ontario, Canada; a sister, Mrs. Verna Madden of Texas and three brothers, Harold Burleigh and Donald Burleigh both of Ohio and W. H. Burleigh of Canada. He was a member of the Presbyterian church in Illinois; a member of the B.P.O.E.
