Your Nearest Safeway Jr. Golf Tournament At Willowick Golf Course Aug. 12-15 All Junior Golfers, under 18 years of age, residing in Orange County are invited to enter the Junior Golf Tournament at Willowwick Golf Course in Santa Ana on Aug. 12, 13, 14 and 15. Clyde R. Straw, chairman of the committee, said no established handicap is necessary. The tournament is sponsored by Willowick Golf Course. The qualifying round is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 12, to begin at about 1:30 p.m. Each day of activity will begin at that time. Elimination by match play the next three days. Prizes will be awarded Thursday night during the Men's Club meeting which starts at 8:30 o'clock. There will be no entry fee, only a green fee of 50 cents each day. All entries must be registered at the Willowick Clubhouse not later than 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. Golf clinic by a professional will be held at about 7 p.m. after the qualifying round on the 12th. The year 1816 was such a cold year throughout the world that it was known as "the year without a summer." Floriculture Show Has 1171 Entries At County Fair Eleven hundred seventy-one entries have already been received for display in the expanded flower show of the fair, Aug. 9 through 18 at Costa Mesa, according to Harry Macres, floriculture supervisor. According to Macres, the flower show will have three separate judgings this year, to insure fresh displays throughout the fair. Arrangements, patio cut flowers, potted plumery nursery exhibit, club booths and the expanse gardens will entail 50 per cent more floor space, as well as improving and display platforms.
