Upon completion of basic training he was reassigned to Fort Lawton, Wash., where he successfully completed the Army Clerk Typist Course before reassignment to the Far East. COMPLETES NIKE COURSE Warrant Officer Harry R. Wilkinson, Jr., whose wife, Shirley lives on Route 3, Tampa, Fla, recently completed eight weeks of specialized training in the operation of the Army's NIKE surface-to-air guided missile at Fort Bliss, Tex. Wilkinson's parents live at 8853 Kathryn Dr., Anaheim. JOHN R. CLARK GRADUATES John R. Clark, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Clark of 818 Cottonwood Circle, Anaheim, graduated from recruit training June 29, at the Naval Training Center in San Diego. The graduation exercises, marking the end of nine weeks of "boot camp", included a full dress parade and review before military officials and civilian dignitaries. MORE MAIL DELIVERY According to an announcement by Congressman James B. Utt (R-28th Dist.) city delivery will be extended in Anaheim to include the 200-300 blocks of Coolidge and Kendor Drives, and North Dale Street, effective July 22, 1957. This extension will provide service to approximately 40 family residences. "ROADEO" IN GERMANY Army Pvt. Robert E. Kirby, son of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Kirby, 2502 Houston St., Ana- Social Security pays retirement benefits and survivor benefits to qualified workers and their families. Beginning July, 1957, Social Security will also pay disability benefits. Only persons who have severe long lasting disabilities and who meet very strict work requirements may qualify for social security disability benefits. TAKES RADIO WORK Pvt. Edward C. Larson, 22 year old so not Mr. and Mrs. Ellis A. Larson, 702 W. Center St., Anaheim, whose wife, Louise, lives at 14272 Hoover, Westminster, recently completed the radio teletype operation course at the Army's Southeastern SignaSchool, Fort Gordon, Ga. T 15-week course trained Larson operate radio transmitting and receiving sets in combination with teletypewriter equipment. He otered the Army last December and completed basic training Fort Ord. In 1956, an all-time attendanrecord was set at the CaliforniState Fair and Exposition in Sramento, with a total of 823, persons. The previous record w 812,204, established at the 19 state fair. Kirby, 2502 Houston St., Anaheim, recently participated in the 540th Engineer Group's "Roadeo" in Germany. Kirby competed in the two and one-half ton truck division of the event. Kirby, regularly assigned as a truck driver in Headquarters and Service Company of the group's 227th Engineer Battalion, entered the Army in February 1950 and completed basic training at Fort Knox, Ky. Agoston Haraszty, who was sent to Europe by the State Agricultural and Viticulture Societies and returned with the grape cuttings that paved the way. California's State Fair and Exposition was established more than a century ago as the official show of the newly formed State Agricultural Society in San Francisco's Musical Hall. The present grounds for the California State Fair and Exposition in Sacramento comprises 207 acres. The new site across the American River, to be developed in time for the 1960 or 1961 fair, will total 1,050 acres. Most domestic employees are covered by Social Security.
