Notice is hereby given that at a regular meeting of the Board of Directors, held on the 8th day of April, 1957, Assessment No. 30 of three dollars ($3.00) per share was levied on the Capital Stock of the Corporation, payable at the office of the Company at 18151 Coronado Ave., Anaheim, Orange County, California.

in the Anaheim area for forty years, the family home being at 9232 Rio Vista Ave., died at her home last Sunday evening after a prolonged illness.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Martha L. Burns of Pomona and Mrs. Gertrude B. Leaman of Anaheim; one brother and one sister in Germany; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Montebello.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Montebello church located at the corner of 18th Street and Beverly Blvd., today, Thursday at 1:30 p.m. The pastor, Rev. G. H. Smukal will officiate and interment will be in the family plot in Evergreen cemetery.

James P. Hand, chief machinist mate, USN. of 410 Florett St., Anaheim, returned to Long Beach May 14 after completing six-month cruise in the Far East aboard the destroyer USS Franklin E. Evans. The ship left the U.S. last November stopping at Pearl Harbor and Kwajali'en Islands on route to Melbourne, Australia where the crew observed the 1958 Olympic games. After operating with Task Force 77 and a tour of duty with the Formosa Patrol the destroyer visited Yokosuka and Sasebo, Japan; Subic Bay Philippine Islands; Kaohsiung Taiwan and Hong Kong. B.C.C.
Reserve Airmen May Enroll in 'Airman's Flight'
Orange County's 9346th Air Reserve Squadron, recipient of five top honors as the outstanding reserve squadron in the Air Force, is offering reserve airmen and qualified veterans the opportunity to join a new Airman's Flight, according to Squadron Commander Lt. Col. Claude Norton.
For the first time, airmen will have a chance to participate in Air Reserve training in a pay status, according to the grade held on active duty. They will not only earn points toward promotion but will receive a monthly retirement income based on their grade and amount of service.
Airmen will receive a day's pay for each training meeting attended, up to a maximum of 24 meetings a year.
Participation in this new Airman's Flight will have no more bearing upon recall to active duty than airmen and veterans face now in their present reserve status.
The Air Force will hire a qualified instructor to teach the members of the new flight. The airmen will meet the first three Tuesdays of the month from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the American Legion Hall at 313 North Birch Street in Santa Ana.
Reserve airmen, and veterans who are no longer affiliated with any other branch of the armed services, may receive further information.
County 4-Hers Chosen to Attend June Conference
Selected to attend this year's Junior Leader Training Conference are eight Orange County 4-H Junior Leaders. Held at the University of California Goleste Campus, June 17-21, the conference is a statewide training period for older 4-H members enrolled in leadership work, said Farm Advisor W. A. Humphrey.
Member eligibility for the conference is based on their leadership record and the recommendation of their 4-H Club.
Among Junior leaders attending is Bill Stouder, Kornhuskers, Anaheim.
Each member attending received a special certificate presented by J. R. Thomas, Manager, Bank of America, Garden Grove for being selected to go. The Bank sponsors part of the conference fee for each Junior leader. Presentation was made at the June Leaders Council meeting.
Chapman College Graduation Begins
Chapman College baccalaureate services will be held in the Evangelical United Brethren Church, Santa Ana, next Sunday, June 9 at 4 p.m., with a Chapman alumnus giving the sermon. He is Dr. Dallas Gladson, minister of the First Christian Church, Oakland, and his sermon will be "Admission to Advance Standing."

County Girl Wins AMVET Scholarship
Jerolyn Marie White, 17, of No. Parton Street, Santa Ana has been selected as one of the 15 winners of an AMVET (American Veterans of World War II and Korea) Memorial Scholarship after a nation-wide competition. She is the daughter of the late Charles White and M. Helen White.
AMVETS Orange County Poor III, commanded by Edward Braunum, sponsored Miss White for the award. She will receive a grant of $500.00 for use at the college of her choice. Only the children of deceased or totally disabled veterans of World War II or the Korean conflict are eligible for the competition. Miss White father died in France while serving in the Army.
A senior at Santa Ana High School, she plans to enter Occidental College for a career in secondary teaching. She is one of two California students to win AMVETS scholarships this year.
Since the inception of the program six years ago, 46 students have received more than $75,000 in scholarships from the AMVET National Service Foundation. Total of five winners have come from California.

Local Girl Named Student Speaker
Two high ranking seniors at Santa Barbara College have been selected as student speakers for the UCSBC commencement exercises to be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the library court on the new campus, it was announced by Dr. Elmer R. Noble, acting provost. Mary Ellen Dougherty, a speech major from Anaheim, the daughter of D. J. Dougherty, 821 N. Los Angeles Street, and Mrs. Elsie L. Dougherty, 216 W. Broadway, was one of the speakers selected to represent their fellow students on the program with the other speakers, President Robert Gordon Sproul and Provost Noble.
The two were selected on a basis of notable participation in the undergraduate life of the college, both curricular and extracurricular, and through qualification at speech trials.
Miss Dougherty is a resident of Santa Rosa Hall on the campus and may graduate with honors. She was active in forensics, winning honors in speech tournaments. She was vice president of Theta Alpha Phi, dramatics honorary, and a member of Tau Kappa Alpha, forensics honorary. She has specialized in speech correction work and plans to enter that profession in the education field.

Courteous drivers obey the rules," Capt. Hull declared he posed the question not above. "If every driver and pedestrian in this area would be courteous in traffic as they are in their homes, we would see substantial reduction in our traffic accident rate."
Courtesy in traffic includes working with others in a positive effort to keep everyone out of a critical trouble," the Captain stated. "It also includes driving within the safe speed at all times giving rather than grabbing at right-of-way, allowing plenty of distance when overtaking a passing another car, using headlights properly at night, respecting the rights of others."
Edmund B. Sullivan Dies Suddenly Thurs.
Edmund Bernard Sullivan, born in Springfield, Mass., and residing in California for several years and in Garden Grove for two years at 11141 Wakefield Ave., died very suddenly at his home early Thursday morning of last week. He had experienced a serious illness but it was believed that he was making a splendid recovery. He was 38 years of age.
He leaves his wife, Agnes Sullivan; one sister, Mary McQueen and one brother, Sylvester Sullivan, both in Springfield, Mass.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held at St. Columban's Church, 10801 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove, on Sunday evening at 8 o'clock. Interment was in the family plot in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chicopee Falls, Mass. Hilgenfeld Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Gerald J. Gillett, machinist's mate third class, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin D. Gillett and husband of Mrs. Betty S. Gillett, all of 315 W. North St., Anaheim, arrived in Alameda, May 20 aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La. The arrival of the Shangri-La concluded her second six-month Far Eastern cruise with the U.S. Seventh Fleet.

AMVETS Orange County Post commanded by Edward Bransponsored Miss White for the college. She will receive a grant of $50,000 for use at the college choice. Only the children deceased or totally disabled of World War II or the conflict are eligible for competition. Miss White's death in France while serving in the Army.

DDD STAMPS—Pacific Telephone’s Roy Nunn hands Orange Postmaster Elwood Case check for $3,750 for purchase of 125,-009 three cent stamps. According to the pastmaster it was the largest sale of stamps ever recorded since he has been there.
DDD Stamps are for the mailing of Direct Distance Dialing booklets to Orange County subscribers. The new service which allows the direct dialing of a long distance call without help of an operator will go into effect for most of Orange County subscribers June 16.

Aubrey Peter Disher Dies of Long Illness
Aubrey Peter Disher, a native of Ohio who came to California just a few weeks ago, died early Wednesday morning at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital after an extended illness. He was 49 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Helen R. Disher who resides at 300 E. Fir St., Brea; his mother, Della B. Disher in Celina, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Masters and Mrs. Wilberta Dixson, both of Michigan; one son, Charles Disher of Michigan and one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Tyner of New York.
He was a member of the Church of Christ in the East.
Funeral services will be conducted from Hilgenfeld Chapel Saturday at 10 a.m. Rev. A. J. Casebeer, pastor of the local Church of Christ, will officiate and interment will be in Loppa Vista Memorial Park.

Eng Coy, Native of China, Dies Sunday
Eng Coy, born in China 73 years ago and living in Anaheim for two and one-half years at 329 E. Center St., died Sunday evening, June 2, at Anaheim Community Hospital after an extended illness.
He is survived by his wife who is in Hong Kong; one son, John Coy of Des Moines, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Jack Lum of San Francisco; one sister, Mrs. Moey Lin of Anaheim; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted from Hilgenfeld chapel this morning. Thursday, at 10 o'clock with interment in Anaheim cemetery.
