Sen. Kuchel
Gives Views on
P.G.& E. Proposal
The indicated "saving" to the Federal Government if it should accept the offer of the Pacific Gas and Electric Company to install equipment and generate electricity at Trinity Dam is "illusory", United States Senator Thomas H. Kuchel of California said in remarks delivered before the Senate Tuesday of last week.
Kuchel pointed to a recent statement of Interior Secretary Fred A Seaton that errors have been found in certain computations by the Interior Department in analyzing the P.G. and E. proposal. Kuchel then asked why the Federal Government should turn over power potentialities to a private utility to generate electricity Federal agencies subsequently would have to purchase "at a premium".
A Congressional staff study indicates, the California Senator disclosed, that Federal agencies using hydro-electric power in California would be forced to pay "considerably more" for energy than the forecast "saving" in cost of building the Trinity Unit of the Central Valley Project.

AYES Program
Ready to Serve
Youth Placement
The Anaheim Youth Employment Service announced last Thursday that their program is ready to roll. This organization has been formed to serve as a channel through which the teenagers of Anaheim may find part-time and summer jobs. The president, Robert Hutchison, said that anyone who has a job for teenagers can call LAmbert 5-1137, and ask for the Youth Employment Officer. There have been hundreds of teenagers registered in the various schools in the Anaheim Union High School District. The P-TA has been helping classify the cards. They report the employment interests vary from baby sitting and sales clerks, to dairy work and commercial fishing.
The Anaheim Youth Employment Service is a non-profit organization with representatives from practically all service clubs in Anaheim, as well as representatives from practically all service clubs in Anaheim, as well as representatives from churches. P-TA's, various businesses and labor unions, and from AUHS and the California Department of Employment. The Board of Directors includes Robert Hutchison, President; Rev. Arthur Kent, Vice-President; Lucille Cox, Secretary; Mary Starr, Treasurer; Avon Carlson, William Martin and George T. Hanley.
The AYES hopes that the community will give teenagers their wholehearted support in finding the work experience they are seeking. Persons interested in helping support the AYES may contact Everett Gillespie at Delco Remy.
