Tribute to Romberg";
"Battle Hymn of the Republic"
and "The Happy Wanderer". First vice president of Calif Federation BPWC, Inc., La Docia Ellis, speaker of the evening, in keeping with the idea of "Spotlight" on Women in Public Office, chose as her topic "You and Your Public". She pointed out the limitations of pioneer women and followed the progress of women through the years. "We must all evaluate: Where we are going; Why we are going, and What to expect there", she stated.
A reception honoring state officers and newly elected district officers followed the banquet. Officers not already mentioned were District president. Doris Archibald; state health and safety chairman, Hylda Bell and state political promotion chairman, Zella Stone.
District officers installed by Mrs. Ellis on Sunday morning are: president, Helen Turner of Victor Valley; vice president, Elvera Hasford of Santa Ana; recording secretary, Elma Hartford of Rialto; corresponding secretary, Rosalie Waeldin of Victor Valley; treasurer, Marion Milligan of Barstow; auditor, Josephine Fulfer of Anaheim, and Parliamentarian, Daisy Grinnage of Newport Harbor. Florence Bechtle of Anaheim BPWC was appointed program coordinator and Evah Drennon, career advancement chairman.
Other Anaheim members attending not previously mentioned were Signa Hatfield, Norma Nipper, Helen Sharp and a former member, Ethel Caverly, now residing in Chicago.
Ikes to Hear
Convention Report
President Yater of the Izaak Walton League has returned from the convention and will give a report of the business transacted. Another enjoyable feature of the meeting tonight, Thursday, will be a film received from the Department of Fish and Game entitled "Fishing Fever" that has its locale at Crowley Lake.
The last meeting was a fish fry at Loard's Trout Pond east of Anaheim and was the culmination

May 8 Affair of St. Joseph Guild
St. Joseph Guild of Placentia, in cooperation with Edna MacMaster's exclusive Apparel Salon for women, will present a benefit fashion show and buffet luncheon on Wednesday, May 8, at 1 p.m., Arnold's Farm House Restaurant in Buena Park.
Final preparations for the annual event are keeping Mrs. Girard Smith, the Guild president, and the general chairman, Mrs. William Krom and their enthusiastic committees busy with all details.
Mrs. Charles Potria, Jr., and Mrs. Dennis Kelleher have been busily engaged in selecting the attractive fashion accessories for the decorative theme, "Maytime is Fashion-time." Appropriate accessories from glamorous beaded evening bag to a gay beach towel, will be displayed in fashion tableaux depicting "After Five."

Armed Forces Week' Set for Sunday, May 12
The kick-off to southland armed Forces Week' observances of American military power will be a double-header induction of Navy and Marine personnel, and a breath-taking air show featuring the Navy's world-famous "Blue Angels". The events will take place on Sunday, May 12, at Naval Air Station Los Alamitos and the public is invited to attend. The main gate will be open to the public at 12 noon.
Visitors will be able to see exhibits of the latest in Naval and Marine aircraft equipment. The afternoon's colorful review by the high level military leaders of over 5,000 southern California Naval and Marine Reservists is scheduled at 2:30 p.m.
Climaxing the afternoon's formal ceremonies, the Navy's top jet demonstration team, the "Blue Angels" will take to the air. Performing dare-devil precision aerobatics at supersonic speeds, the famous group led by Commander Ed Holley, USN, will end the day's activities with a thrilling spectacular air show.
