The first hostile fleet that ever appeared before the city of Constantinople was a British one that forced its way through the Dardanelles in 1807.
The term "camouflage" is a very old one. It was used by the American Indians when they donned their war paint, and in various ways in human warfare centuries prior to the first World War.

Practically all of the survivee of the once great tribe of Deer ware Indians live in northeastern Oklahoma. They are citizens that state.
In 1638 the Swedes colonize that part of the United States now comprising the state of Deer ware. This was their only attempt at colonization in the New World.

How Standard's explorers help find the 830 gallons of oil you'll need this year
THE OCEAN FLOOR IS THE NEWEST
CONTIER in our search for oil to help meet the
lowing demand of motorists, home owners, farming, industry and the Armed Forces.
Last year Standard's scientists explored millions of
res offshore and on land in the Western Hemisphere. Once again we discovered new oil deposits
that will help supply the 830 gallons of petroleum
everyone in the U. S. will use this year...and the
100 gallons they'll need by 1965.
With oil becoming more difficult and expensive to
drill, Standard's investment in exploration is increasing...$119,000,000 last year. That's one way
we can find new oil to help keep ahead of the
union's growing need for products from petroleum.
STANDARD OIL COMPANY OF CALIFORNIA
plans ahead to serve you better
Progress in the West means...
U. S. oil reserves must
continue to keep pace
with rising demand
Daily U. S. oil consumption has
risen from 5 million barrels in
1946 to 9 million barrels in
1956 and is expected to reach
12½ million by 1965.
