Anaheim Gazette Anaheim, Calif., Thurs., Dec. 12, 1956 CRUNCHY OATMEAL COOKIES ½ cup lard ½ cup white sugar 1 cup brown sugar 2 eggs ¼ cup milk 1½ cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon each, soda, salt 1½ teaspoons cinnamon ½ teaspoon nutmeg 3 cups uncooked rolled oats 1 cup raisins Cream lard and sugar. Stir in eggs and milk. Sift flour, soda, salt and spices and stir into mixture. Fold in oats and raisins. Drop by spoonfuls on a cookie sheet and flatten with a tumbler, greased with lard and then dipped in a little white sugar. Bake at 375°F. 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from pan immediately. 5 dozen. CHIPPED BEEF ON CURRIED RICE Shred ½ pound chipped beef. Melt ½ cup butter or margarine and add beef and 3 tablespoons chopped onion, stirring and cooking until lightly browned. Add 6 tablespoons of enriched flour, mix well and add 3 cups of milk gradually, stirring constantly until thickened. Serve in a ring of curried rice. Yield: 6 servings.
