Browning Bros. have a fine lot of baled hay which they will sell in quantities to suit, at the rate of $12 per ton at their ranch in Orangethorpe.
The Los Angeles Times is the name of a new morning paper soon to be issued at the County seat. Its editor will be Nathan Cole Jr., and the business department will be conducted by Mr. Thomas Gardiner.
The Anaheim hotel was formally opened on Wednesday evening and the house was crowded with friends of Mr. Gwin who came to give his enterprise a "send-off". A most magnificent lunch was spread and it was unanimously voted that the new hotel has a cook who is an artist in his profession. The band gave a serenade during the evening and mirth and jollity reigned supreme until the last guest departed.
Through the courtesy of J. P. Zeyn we have in our office a sample of crude oil from the well on Sheriff Rowland's ranch. The owners of property next to the ranch as well as Messrs. Rowland and Chandler (the latter the oil expert who is superintending the work) are greatly elated at the development made so far and Marshall inspect the locality casionally. Theo. The Democrats made nearly a clean sweep at the municipal election in Los Angeles on Monday. They elected the three members of the Board of Education and five out of the six councilmen.
"The Witherby Troup" is the name of a theatrical and comedy troup which will give a performance in Anaheim shortly.
The Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on Wednesday. Mr. Fish reported in regard to certain nuisances in the Chinese quarter. They had been abated. He recommended that the

December — 1906
Showers during the week bring the total rainfall for the season to 1.52 inches. The precipitation is less than that of last year, when the gauge showed 5.40 to the first of December. On November 6th of last year 2.36 inches fell. During December only 25 of an inch fell. In January 2.56 and in March 5.40. The season's fall amounted to 18.13 inches, and the year was one of the best in the history of the county. No early rains have fallen this season. Weather prophets say we shall have abundant rainfall.
Hippolyte Cahen, former well-known business man of this city,
has been ill at his home in Los Angeles for some time past with nervous prostration.
Frank Maclieb has opened a harness shop in the Spake and McCollum building on Center street. He is an experienced man and has lately moved here from Flagstaff, Arizona.
An inch and thirteen hundredths of rain fell on Tuesday night according to Dickel's gauge, making 1.28 for the storm up to 7 o'clock Wednesday morning. For the season 2.80. Last year to date 5.40.
In the census bulletin issued this week California leads all the states in the production of canned and dried fruits. The output of the state for 1905 in these lines is estimated at $21,000,000.

Godfrey Stock has purchased 36 acres belonging to Roscoe Staples situated southwest of the city limits, the stated price given at $15,000. Mr. Stock will subdivide the tract and put it on the market.
Richard Krebs was in town from Arizona some days ago renewing old acquaintances. Richard operates one of the largest wineries in Southern California and has the reputation of being one of the best wine makers in the state.
Anaheim high school defeated Santa Ana at basketball on the local grounds by a score of 13 to 12.
Sherman Hayden, who successfully managed the Walnut Association's packing house this season states that a superior quality of nuts were shipped out, that the crop has been cleaned up and the packing house closed. First class soft shells brought 11 cents, and an extra fancy lot of graded nuts brought 15 cents.
Manager Jos. Backs of the Home Telephone company on Monday disbursed $1,113.70 to 44 employees of the Home Telephone Company engaged in installing the new telephone system in this city and vicinity. This amount was for two weeks work. In November the company disbursed $30,000 to its employees throughout the county.
At the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. J. Strodthoff Wednesday afternoon, November 28 at 2 o'clock, F. A. Yungbluth was united in the holy bonds of wedlock to Miss Adella Strodthoff. Rev. Mitchell officiated. Mrs. Otto
Strodthoff attended the bride and Otto Strodthoff was groomsman. A sumptuous wedding breakfast was served in the handsomely appointed dining room. Among those present were Mrs. Strodthoff, mother of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Strodthoff, Miss Bessie Shubert, Miss Poldie Heimann, Miss Wilson, Miss Melanie Cahen, Miss Winifred Melrose, Miss Theresa Pay, Miss Alice Robison, Miss Hettie Weisel, Gus and Hugo Strodthoff, Mr. and Mrs. B. V. Beebe and others.
The happy couple took the evening train for Los Angeles and will spend their honeymoon in Santa Barbara. On their return they will be at home at their new residence, corner of Adele and Lemon Streets.
Costs of operating the All-American Canal last year ($669,059) were lower than for the two previous years.
