Moreno, assigned to the 1st Battalion's Headquarters Company of the division's 511th Infantry Regiment, entered the army in January 1955 and received basic training at Fort Campbell, Ky. He arrived in Europe in Feruary 1956. The 20-year-old soldier attended Anaheim Union High School.
