Kennedy of Massachusetts, who raced Estes Kefauver to a photofinish for the vice-presidential nomination in a dramatic climax to the Democratic Convention, will appear in Santa Ana on Sept. 20 at the Community Center, 1104 W. 8th Street, under the auspices of the Orange County Council of Democratic Clubs. He will be honored at a luncheon open to the public, and will give the major address to launch the Democratic campaign in Orange County for the StevensonKefauver ticket and local candidates for Congress, State Senate and Assembly. The chapel, built at a cost of approximately $125,000, seating 200 persons, is being made available for weddings, without charge, and features a large floor-to-ceiling stained glass window, "The Ten Commandments", made by Judson Studios of Pasadena, internationally famed in this field. Beautiful matched candelabra from France adorn the stone-flanked altar. Overhead four ornate lamps, each from an old church in Europe, vie with an are part of the chapel. Mottell's and Peek has provided four other private family rooms at the Colonial Funeral Home, each in a different motif. One features Oriental furnishings, another is French. There are sheath Bibles from Calcutta and Bombay, and from Manila and Corregidor came intricate tapestries. Pictures collected depict special customs and scenes typical of the countries from which they came. There is a special display of Madonnas, each acquired in a different country. The collection even includes an ancient Admiral Fitzroy barometer, acquired at Stratford-on-Avon, next door to Shakespeare's home. Edward C. Purnell, a vice president of Mottell's and Peek, is resident manager of the Colonial Funeral Home. Assisting him is his wife, Elsie.
