SCHOLARSHIPS TO 20 BOYS AWARDED BY FISHER BODY Twenty American boys have combined hard work and superior talent into a golden harvest of university scholarships valued at $43,000: Nine of the boys have been named national winners in the 1956 Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild model car competition and ranging in value from $5,000 to $2,000. Eleven more of them won $1,000 scholarships on the basis of exceptional designing ability. Share $32,000 in scholarships on the basis of exceptional designing ability. APPLICATIONS FOR NEW FARM WHEAT ALLOTMENTS DUE Farmers on land on which no wheat was seeded for grain for any of the three years 1954, 1955 and 1956 may apply for a 1957 wheat acreage allotment according to Don A. Schroeder chairman of the Orange County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee. To be considered for an allotment on a farm which had no wheat seeded for any of those years, the farmer must apply in writing to the County ASC Committee, 622 N. Main St., Santa Ana, by August 15, 1956. Farms which did have wheat seeded for grain in any, or all, of the above years are classified as "Old Farms", and the farmers of these tracts have already received their allotments for 1957 in accordance with the wheat history on the individual farms, Schroeder reported. He explained that a certain percentage of the wheat acreage allotted to the state is annually set aside for new farms, and allocated after the old farms have been issued their allotments, in order to spread the work-load. Consequently, this is the time for those farmers who wish to produce wheat in 1957 to apply for their allotment, Schroeder explained. The wheat farmers of the na-tion have voted in the marketing quota for wheat in 1957, Schroeder said, which means that wheat produced on any farm in excess of fifteen acres will be subject to penalty; and any farmer planting less than fifteen acres without a marketing quota based on an acreage allotment will not be eligible for price support. It is therefore important that new farms should secure an allotment, and the application should be made at this time, Schroeder concluded.
