Hold Regular Meet
A regular meeting of the Orange County Legal Secretariat Association was held Thursday June 28, 1956, at the Savoy Restaurant in Santa Ana, Betty Lo Russum, president, conducting.
Committee chairmen were called upon to present their plan for activities and social events for the year. Ann Dixon of Fulerton and Jane Meyers of Orange were accepted as new members of the association. Ann Whitener governor, told of the acceptance of the by-laws by the National Association of Legal Secretaries.
Alva Letson was elected delegate to the Fifth Annual Convention of the National Association of Legal Secretaries to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 27, 28 and 29 with Kay Yorba and Bethina Kline as alternates.
The meeting adjourned about 10 p.m.
The Bengal light is a blue signal used at sea in time of shipwreck.

YMCA Life-Saving Awards to 35 Boys
The Anaheim YMCA Lifesaving and Water Safety class, recently completed, was made up of 35 junior and senior high school boys who met each Wednesday night for nine weeks. According to Bill Belles, chief instructor and YMCA Leader Examiner, the following boys have qualified for lifesaving awards: Senior certificates — John Selmer, Jewel Gariah, Dave Bultena, Frank Thomas, Jim Radford, and Don Valt; Junior certificates (boys under 15) — John Visel, Dennis Smith, Bob Terry, Glenn Herbel, Paul Sampson, Don Landson and David Bertch.
Boys receiving lifesaving certificates are proficient swimmers and must pass written, oral and practical water tests. Each boy is familiar with methods of water rescue and artificial respiration, using the back pressure arm lift.
Mrs. Lucile Murphy Passes Away
Mrs. Lucile R. Murphy, a resident of Anaheim since 1948, passed away at the family home at 1280 E. La. Palma street, this city, on Monday, July 2. She was born in Chicago 68 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Francis Murphy of the home; three sisters, Miss Irene Nowak and Mrs. Celeste Rudnik, both of Hollywood, and Mrs. Clara Nobel of Westchester, Ill.
She was a member of St. Michael's Episcopal church.
Funeral services were held last Thursday morning, at St. Michael's church with the Rev. John K. Saville, pastor, reading the service. Interment was in Anaheim cemetery with Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Funeral Service for Mary E. Konopka
Funeral service for Marie Ellen Konopka, seven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edmund J. Konopka of 1220 Kenwood Place, was conducted at Hilgenfeld chapel last Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The child died on July 4th in the Yuma, Ariz., General hospital of injuries received in an automobile accident earlier in the day.
Besides her parents she leaves one brother, John Robert Konopka; one sister, Phyllis Ann Konopka and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Konopka of Miami, Florida.
She attended the Zion Lutheran school.

June Busy Month For VFW Auxiliary
Members of the Anaheim VFW Auxiliary had a busy month during June with several activities, the first of which was on June 11. Frieda Kramer, membership chairman, and her committee were hostesses to a membership drive party at which 21 guests were present.
Plans for the fall bazaar were made when Emma Daniels, sewing chairman, met with her committee on June 18th.
The regular meeting of the Auxiliary was held at the VFW hall on No. Philadelphia street on June 25th, President Florence Carroll presiding. Several chairs were vacant since the officers were on vacation so Ella Wolf, Bettina Marmalajo, Irene Brown, Ida Trendle and Edna Wisser filled these positions.
Two new members, Betty Naurent and Gloria Smith were welcomed into the group.
Cancer chairman, Cecile Baxter and several members will assist at the Cancer society booth at the Orange County fair.
Irene Brown, hospital chairman, delivered 74 soakers, 90 publications and 2 afghans to Sawtelle Veterans hospital and picked up material for 250 additional soakers.
Refreshments were served by Limnie Campbell. Next meeting will be July 9.
