COLOR INVASION
The trend today is toward "living kitchens," color harmonized and spaciously designed for a modern homemaker like the young lady above. She is peeking into her new built-in oven made from gleaming porcelain enamel, the appliance finish preferred by most women. Architects and kitchen designers agree that porcelain enamel on appliances and household equipment offers the greatest color flexibility, enabling it to answer the growing demand for kitchens with a warm friendly background. In white, soft pastel shades or in the new metallic tones, this lifetime finish offers the advantages homemakers need and appreciate because it's heat resistant, stain proof, odor proof and above all, easy to clean. Back in Grandma's day the kitchen was a room to conceal, used mainly for cooking. Today, it is the focal point of modern living and porcelain enamel in a rainbow of colors is the face-lifter that has made this possible.

LAW IN ACTION
ARREST
Our system of laws would go to execes unless most people, most the time, obeyed most of our laws.
"Reason teaches," John Locke said, "that since all men are free and equal, no one should harm another of his life, health, or possession.
But a few people do harm others, sometimes by force, sometimes by craft and stealth. We have to take such people out of play by 'arrest' until the "umpire" (our courts) decide what to do with them.
The law allows a peace officer sometimes even a private citizen to "arrest" an accused without a warrant.
An officer cannot rush in and rear out a warrant to "pbt the man" on a careening drunk driver, or a robber holding up a store, he has to act at once.
Hence the law allows arrests without a warrant when the officer is reasonable cause to believe that a certain person has done a crime, or is trying to do one.
Suppose as a private person you could ever arrest anybody. Then sure that a crime has in fact been done, and you have good reason to think that a certain person did it. (And don't arrest him on somebody else's mere say-so).
Afterwards see that he gets before a magistrate right away where he can be properly arraigned and informed of his rights. A short delay may open you to a damage suit for false imprisonment.
In the past, people had to be prevented from using the power to arrest to thwart the law. In old England, for example, to see that courts were not interfered with, so one could arrest lawyers traveling on circuit from one court to another, the parties to a law suit, and witnesses. Clergymen performing divine services could not be arrested.
But these privileges, and that of sanctuary, where an accused could take refuge from arrest in a church, are now gone.

Then listen—it won't take long.
The 1956 Buick has so many new developments—in styling—in power—in performance—in ride and handling—that it is, literally, the best Buick yet. That's Fact No. 1.
And Fact No. 2 proves it: Buick today is more strongly entrenched than ever in the top three of the nation's best sellers—outselling all other cars in America except two of the well-known smaller cars.
One big reason for this success is the strapping new Buick SPECIAL—like the one pictured here.
It's priced right close to those smaller cars—but, like every '56 Buick, it's a whale of a lot more new car for the money.
