General Motors Again Wins Safety Award
The National Safety Council announced that General Motors had earned its "Award of Honor" for outstanding safety performance in 1955. Last year's achievement set an all-time safety record for the company.
Presentation of the Council's highest award marks the eleventh time during the past 14 years that General Motors has received this recognition for its safety practices, it was announced.
The Council's records disclosed that GM's 1955 safety record was better than that of any automobile producer and that 15 plants operated the entire year without a lost-time accident to one of their employees.
Of the approximately 525,000 hourly-rate and salaried GM employees in the United States, 99.70 per cent worked last year without losing time because of occupational illness or injury sustained while at work.

More Natural Gas Promised Locally
More out-of-state natural gas for local users was promised in an agreement signed by El Paso Natural Gas Co. on the one hand, and Southern Counties and Southern California Gas Companies, on the other.
A gas company spokesman declared the new agreement, which is subject to approval by the Federal Power Commission and the California Public Utilities Commission, would boost natural gas imports from Texas and New Mexico fields to more than 1,000,000,000 cubic feet daily. The two southland distributing companies are now receiving about two-thirds of their total annual gas requirements from out-of-state sources.
Current daily natural gas deliveries by the El Paso company are averageing 800,000,000 cubic feet he stated. Under an agreement signed last year, it is proposed to increase these deliveries in stages up to 890,000,000 cubic feet daily.
The new agreement signed recently will add another 152,000,000 to the total bringing it up to 1,042,000,000 cubic feet daily. The El Paso company proposes to make the additional gas available in two stages—76,000,000 cubic feet daily by July, 1957, and the other 76,000,000 cubic feet daily by oven.
NUT FILLING
½ cup uitter or margarine
1 cup sifted confectioners' sugar

July, 1958.
The two Southland distribution companies are planning a new pipeline project from Topock on the California-Arizona line to their distribution centers.
The project's cost is estimated at about $30,000,000. Start of the new pipeline is awaiting approval of the California Public Utilities Commission.

Home Looking Seedy?
Moved into a new home recently? The old home beginning to look a bit shaggy about the edge. In either case, there's a way to improve the looks of your property—a new lawn.
With the new grass seed mixtures, containing a high percentage of Merion bluegrass, it's quick and painless matter to train form a drab, weed-riddled plot yard into a thick, cushiony groturf. And, by taking a few simple precautions when sowing your lawn, you can prevent weed growth from interfering with the development of the grass seedling.
Don't plan on preparing your lawn all in one day. First do thorough job of digging the ground and preparing a good seed bed. Your home is newly-built, get rid of any debris that may have been left by the contractor.
After working two inches of Canadian peat moss into the soil to build up the humus content, the plot rest for ten days or two weeks so the weather and air can work on it. After this "weathing" period, apply one of the best proved 2,4-D weed killers such as improved Weed-B-Gon. This will kill any newly-sprouted weeds in the plot and give you a much fairer chance of getting a weed-free start with the new lawn.
Wait another five days and then apply the grass seed. After sowing rake the seed into the soil to depth of about ⅓ inch. Roll the entire seed bed with a fairly lightweight roller.
PASO company proposes to make the additional gas available in two stages—76,000,000 cubic feet daily by July, 1957, and the other 76,000,000 cubic feet daily by oven.
NUT FILLING

Cover eggs completely with about ¼ inch of the bulk pork sausage. Place on a rack in an open, shallow pan. Bake in moderate oven (350 deg. F.) for 40 to 45 minutes or until sausage is well browned. Yield: 6 servings.
