Irwin Named to Retail Grocers Board At a recent meeting of the executive board of the Southern California Retail Grocers Association, president O. R. Kruger appointed John H. Irwin, president and general manager of Bob's Markets, Inc., to fill a vacancy on the board. The appointment was unanimously approved by the directors. The new member is the only market owner from Orange county serving on the board. Irwin has been associated with the industry since 1936 and has been in business for himself since 1944. The present group of four stores under the Bob's Market name began in Buena Park when he associated with his brother in one store. He purchased the lagter's interest in 1952 and added three stores located in Anaheim, Brea and Whittier. Plans are currently being drawn for a fifth store to be located in a shopping center in Westminster. Active in civic affairs, Irwin is currently serving as president of the Buena Park Boys' Club, was first prexy of the Exchange Club and led the Chamber of Commerce in its re-organization following incorporation of the city. Irwin and his family reside in North Long Beach.
