Curtice, president of General Motors. Mr. Curtice described the revised dealer contract, which will become effective early in March, as "the most equitable and progressive in the industry." He said that it resulted from weeks of effort on the part of GM executives as well as recommendations after surveys of dealer problems by individual members of the General Motors Dealer Council in their respective areas. Council members and General Motors executives met for two days earlier this week for a complete discussion of these and other dealer-factory matters. Mr. Curtice said that each member of the Council, which represents all 18,000 GM car and truck dealers, presented his views on factory-dealer relationships and dealer selling agreements based on his survey. The corporation then presented revisions and additions to the selling agreement which it had developed and was prepared to offer its dealers. "After thorough discussion of the corporation's proposed revisions and additions with members of the Dealer Council in the light of their surveys, additional changes were made to arrive at provisions which all agreed were reasonable and practical," Mr. Curtice said. "The changes and new clauses are designed to improve the inherent equities in the dealer contract," he said. These changes and additions were enthusiastically approved by all members of the Dealer Council. Safeway Lowers Beef Prices as Much as Ten Cents The Los Angeles distribution division of Safeway Stores announced today that prices on all beef cuts have been reduced in its southern California stores. New prices represent per pound reductions of as much as ten cents on many cuts, according to M. F. Heller, Safeway's Los Angeles division manager. Some of the beef cuts that have been reduced as much as ten cents include round steak, sirloin tip roasts and steaks, Curtice said.
