New Gadget For "Litter" Bugs On Market Today
Introduced on the market on Tuesday of this week is one of the most useful and worthwhile gadgets yet devised for the use of "litter bugs" in the form of a litter basket that can be installed in your car and is for the deposit of papers and all sorts of refuse usually thrown out of the window. Not only is it useful in the car but it is an item that can be used in the kitchen, bathroom, workshop, sickroom or any wall installation.
The new "Litter Basket" is made of chromed wire and is fastened to the dashboard of your car. It is so constructed that it may be folded back up against the dash on the underneath side.
A six pound paper bag, or one commonly used for lunches, is folded down to fit into the basket and is disposable as it becomes full. These bags may be purchased in any grocery store. It is about eight and a half inches deep, large enough to hold many items of refuse.
Since Anaheim has an ordinance against throwing refuse on the streets, carrying with it a $300 fine, this "Litter Basket" can be a "personal waste basket" for each and every car owner, easily installed with disposable paper bags that can be thrown into the trash cans.
Andrew K. Ferris, owner and manufacturer, has a factory in Chino where the article is being made. The factory is Orbit Manufacturing Co., with the address 13157 Fifth Street, or P.O. Box 398, Chino. Donald Miller, owner of Zenith Screw Products in Huntington Park is co-owner. At present the "Litter Basket" is being sold directly from the factory.

HIGHEST RETURN
"The average net return per
reel paid out on the 1955 Valencia
range crop by the Orange Coopative Citrus Association was the
chest in a good many years," exclaimed Henry C. Bosch, manager, at the annual meeting of the
operative, held in the American
Region Hall, Orange, last Thursday.
"Almost everything that could
open to an orange seemed to
open to the crop last year," he
continued. "Severe scarring caused
the many hard winds of the
previous winter, an unusual
count of puff and creasing, and
continuing preponderance of
all sizes resulted in the diversion to products of 40% of the
unit handled."
Though subdivisions, industrial
pansion, and other causes have
produced the bearing acreage of
anges in Orange county from
124,177 acres in 1951 to only
92,495 acres in 1955, the association has managed to sign sufficient new growers to limit our
loss to less than 70 acres.
"Mechanized packing has permitted us to eliminate 66% of
the packing labor formerly required to handle our crop, resulting in savings of thousands of
dollars."
The meeting was presided over
by G. W. Coltrane in the absence
of President Fred W. Schmidt, who
was unable to attend. Speakers on
the program included J. Henry
Burke, marketing specialist with
the Foreign Marketing Service of
the USDA, from Washington, D.C.; W. McCracken, president and general manager of Treesweet Products, Santa Ana; and A. L. Chandler, manager, Field Services Deptartment, Pure Gold, Redlands.
The following men were elected to the board of directors for the 1956 season: Fred W. Schmidt, D.
W. Gruwell, Sr., Frank C. Nuslein, G. W. Coltrane and Clarence E. Rohrs. Henry Bosch was reappointed manager of the associatior.
Three Violations Lead Traffic Citations, Says CHP
Speed, violations of the right-of-way and drunk driving led the list of deadly traffic violations causing accidents in California during 1955 according to preliminary figures released recently by the California Highway Patrol.
In an effort to stop accidents, the Patrol issued citations for 778,014 traffic violations during the year.
Traffic violators will continue to be cited when observed but every driver and pedestrian must take charge of their own actions in traffic. The best way is to obey the rules and stay alive.
