Toastmistress Club Has Lesson In English Uses Lessons in the use of the English language occupied the Philomela Toastmistress Club of Anaheim at the first meeting of the new year. A parliamentary law drill was led by Mrs. Lyda Pherigo, a lesson on the use of verbs for more colorful speech was given by Mrs. Alice Gallagher, and the diversity of Toastmistress training was described for the benefit of visitors. Mrs. Ruby Howard spoke on "Jesus of Nazareth," and Mrs. Evah Drennon on "Fantasy in Flowers." Mrs. Evelyn Hershey was evaluator. Topic mistress was Mrs. Sue Wodiske. At Engineer School In Fort Belvoir, Va. Army Pvt. Fred E. Hamlyn, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell E. Homlyn, 718 S. Claudina, Anaheim, recently was graduated from the engineer equipment repairman course at the Engineer School, Fort Belvoir, Va. Private Hamlyn entered the Army last July and completed basic training at Fort Ord. Lasater, Lincoln ave., Anaheim, is taking part in the Army's Alaskan "Exercise Moose Horn" in the Big Delta area, 165 miles from the Arctic Circle. During the four-week maneuver, several thousand troops will receive practical training in tactical operations and cross-country movement under simulated combat conditions. Winter temperatures in the region drop to about 50 degrees below zero. Also, two methods of arctic supply, airdrop and giant oversnow tractor-sled-trains, are being compared. Lasater is regularly assigned as a radio operator in Company A of the 71st Infantry Division'4th Regiment in Alaska. He entered the Army in June 1954 and completed basic training at Fort Ord, Calif.
