A Citizen's Advisory Committee composed of representatives of some fifty civic organizations studied the problem, estimated Anaheim's future growth, and recommended this program. WHAT IS THE PROPOSED BUILDING PROGRAM? The Fall of 1956—90 classrooms, plus supplementary facilities, one new school site, and equipment for these 90 classrooms. The Fall of 1957—89 classrooms, plus one new school site, plus equipment for these 89 classrooms. The Fall of 1958—21 classrooms, plus four school sites, plus equipment for 21 classrooms. Total Cost $3,500,000. WILL THE WHOLE $3,500,000 BE SPENT AT ONCE? No! The District can issue only approximately $1,148,-000 this year and will sell additional bonds only as the wealth of the District increases. Here is the anticipated schedule: April 1956 .....$1,148,000 August 1956 .....697,000 August 1957 .....890,000 August 1958 .....765,000 WILL THE WHOLE $3,500,000 BE SPENT AT ONCE? No! If the District is able to start building in April of 1956 it should have 32 portable classrooms and 50 to 60 permanent classrooms completed. WILL THIS PUT ALL OF OUR PUPILS ON SINGLE SESSION? This depends upon the number of new pupils that will enter our schools next Fall, but after the first group of classrooms are completed we believe that from 90% to 95% of our pupils should be on single session. ARE THERE ANY "FRILLS" OR "EXTRAS" IN THIS PROGRAM? No, the Board has planned to provide only essential classrooms, offices, storage and toilet facilities. WHY DO THE ANAHEIM ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS NEED SO MUCH MONEY? To provide classrooms, offices, sanitary facilities, etc., for an expected 6,500 new pupils coming to Anaheim by the Fall of 1958. WILL THIS BOND ISSUE INCREASE THE BOND TAX RATE? No. These bonds will be issued against the new wealth which will be coming to Anaheim during the next 2½ years, and spread over this period of time the bond tax rate will not be increased. WILL ALL THIS MONEY BE USED FOR EXPANSION OF EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES? By law this money will be spent only for school buildings, sites and equipment.
