Stir during toasting. Place toasted rice in 2-quart saucepan. Add 1 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons butter or margarine and 2 cups water. Place saucepan over high heat. Bring to vigorous boil. Turn heat as low as possible. Cover saucepan with lid and leave over this low heat 14 minutes. Turn off heat and allow rice to steam with lid on for 10 minutes. Leave lid on until time to serve. SOCIAL CLUB MEETS Alice Roberts entertained the social club of the A. B. Paul Women's Relief Corps on Tuesday, Jan. 24, at her home at 801 N. Topeka st. A pot luck luncheon was enjoyed. The Corps will meet at the IOOF hall on Feb. 7, according to Mabel Eaton, press chairman. Mrs. Iva L. Phillips Claimed by Death Mrs. Iva L. Phillips passed away at her home at 548 S. Zeyn street, last Friday, Jan. 20. Born in Nebraska 63 years ago, she had resided in Anaheim since last November. Survivors are her husband, Frank J. Phillips, Anaheim; one son, Ralph C. Phillips of North Hollywood; two sisters, Mrs. Herman F. Brandt of Anaheim, and Mrs. Ethel L. Greenman of Hollywood, and one brother, W. L. Walters of Hollywood. She was a member of the Methodist church. Funeral services were conducted from the Hollywood cemetery chapel with Rev. Johnson officiating. Entombment was in Hollywood mausoleum with Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars the directors.
