Red Cross Board Met on Thurs. Eve. Reports of the various service departments of the Red Cross were heard when the board met on Thursday evening of last week at the Chapter House on N. West street. Twelve members were present when the meeting was called to order by Miss Frieda Janss, chairman. A good report was given by the chairman of the blood bank. Also reported was the shipping of 20 layettes to the Naval hospital at Camp Pendleton; three woolen afghans were sent to the Veterans Administration hospital at San Fernando; 200 "housewives" are ready to be delivered to the El Toro Marine hospital at El Toro. These "housewives" were assembled by a group of twelve women at the Lutheran Home. Bed jackets are in the making for the veterans at Palo Alto hospital in Palo Alto. About 1500 cookies were made by the students of the domestic science classes of Anaheim Union High school, Fremont Junior and Western Junior High schools which were taken to the Veterans hospital in Long Beach by Mrs. Helen Kaulbars. These were used for their Thanksgiving party. Announcement was made that the annual Red Cross dinner will be held on Feb. 8, 1956, at the Anaheim Ebell Clubhouse, to which the public is invited. Jorgenson of 9921 Webster St., West Anaheim, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Avis Adele, to Douglas B. Bruce, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bruce of Santa Ana. She passed the traditional box of chocolates at the Kappa Delta sorority house at UCLA where she is a sophomore student. Mr. Bruce attended UC at Berkeley and is now in the advertising department of the Costa Mesa Globe-Herald. NEW ASSISTANT PASTOR AT BETHEL BAPTIST Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Fischer have been welcomed at Bethel Baptist church as assistant pastor and church secretary respectively. A reception was recently given in their honor at the church.
