HOW TO MARK HOLIDAY SHIPMENTS
NOTE: Show value if over $50.00
1. Mark "From" and "To" addresses on both top and one side. Crayon direct on wrapping or cannon is best.
2. Gummed or pasted label is neat best, also top and side.
3. For crates and odd shaped items also use express wire tags.
USE SPECIAL LABELS IF NEEDED
4. Type labels — or address with waterproof ink or heavy pencil.
5. PRINT CLEARLY Col. = Colorado California If you use abbreviations be sure they are clear.
6. DON'T FORGET COMPLETE EXTRA LABEL OR ADDRESS SUP INSIDE EXPRESS PACKAGE—JUST IN CASE.

Address labels, as well as tags for boxes, erates and odd-shaped items may be secured free at railway express offices.
Write or print clearly and be careful of abbreviations. Identify the state. For example, there are 22 communities named Madison in as many states.
An extra address label or slip placed inside the package will provide the necessary identification if the outside marks become torn, lost or illegible. Special labels to indicate the nature of the shipment and special instructions as to handling are available. Express drivers or receiving clerks will paste them on the package as required.
Gift shipments going by express will be picked up by vehicles at most major cities and towns. Shippers are given a receipt and a signature is secured from the receiver at the destination.
If you face a last minute shipping problem check your expressman on direct overnight Air Express service via the nation's scheduled airlines and coordinated as necessary with the rail facilities of some 241 of the country's railroads.
Four New Members Greeted in Junior Assistance League
Four provisionals are now active members of the Junior Assistance League of Anaheim, and were presented with corsages by Mrs. Russell Hess, membership chairman, as they were honored Monday evening of last week at the home of Mrs. Houston Kier, 630 N. Clementine. They are Mrs. Kevin Sweeney, Mrs. James Morriss, Mrs. Gordon Swoffer and Mrs. Lewis Pope. Mrs. Frederick Rusch, who presided at the meeting, congratulated these members on having successfully completed their year's provisional membership.
Many toys were brought to this meeting by the members which will be wrapped and distributed during the holidays, to children in this area.
Mrs. Arthur Shipkey reported that the marionette show,"Sleeping Beauty," sponsored by the league on a recent Saturday, was a great success, when measured by the enthusiasm and applause of the nearly two thousand youngsters who were present. All those who saw the performance and the one given last year will be happy to learn that the Junior Assistance League has scheduled the RED CINNAMON APPLES
Select firm apples that will not mush in processing. Prepare a thin or medium syrup. Flavor this with cinnamon according to taste, and add enough pure red vegetable coloring to give desired shade to apples. Peel apples. Leave whole or quarter. Boil 3 to 5 minutes in syrup. Pack into sterilized jars and fill to within ¼ inch of top of jar with syrup in which apples were pre-cooked. Screw cap on tight. Process in boiling water bath for 25 minutes, or in a pressure cooker at 5 lbs. for 10 minutes.
TOMATO MARMALADE
3 quarts tomatoes (12 cps)
2 oranges
2 lemons
10 cups sugar
2 tbsps. whole cloves
6 tbsps. broken cinnamon stick
Remove peel from tomatoes and cut in small pieces. Slice oranges very thin and quarter the slices. Pour off juice from tomatoes. Add sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add oranges, lemons and spices which have been tied loosely in cheese cloth bag. Place mixture over high heat and boil rapidly, stirring often. Cook until clear and thick, (about 20 minutes). Pour into sterilized jars and seal while hot.

Mrs. Neil LeVecke, Mrs. Walter Kirkhart, and Mrs. Glenn Fry, assisted the hostess in serving dessert and coffee at the conclusion of the meeting.
