Home Advisor in Talk on Foods
Marian Prentiss, University of California Home Advisor, gave a talk on "Our Orange County Market Basket" at the Euclid Home-Maker meeting yesterday morning (Sept. 7) at the home of Mrs. Henry Klausing, 8391 Sunkist Ave. Mrs. Prentiss demonstrated how food grown locally contributes to better health in well planned family diets.
A similar discussion is being planned for the Anaheim Home department meeting on Sept. 27 at Grace Lutheran church. After a share the cost luncheon, Mrs. M. L. Bose will tell of her European trip.
Surrey Club Plan Dinner, Ice Follies
Members of the Surrey Club of the Assistance League of Anaheim will spend an evening attending the Ice Follies at the Pan Pacific auditorium in Los Angeles on Sept. 29. Preceding the show, the group will have dinner at Tallyho Restaurant on Beverly Blvd. A bus has been chartered to take the club members to Los Angeles.
Mrs. Wm. LeVecke and Mrs. J. E. Schumacher, co-chairmen of the Surrey Club were in Los Angeles on Thursday of last week to make the arrangements. They also attended the final meeting of the Hollywood Bowl Women's Association at the home of Mrs. Whitley.

Ruby H. Collier Passes Away Thurs.
Ruby H. Collier, 66, a native of Kansas but a resident of Anaheim thirteen years, died Thursday afternoon at the Anaheim Community hospital after an extended illness.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Collier at the home address, 318 S. Illinois street; two daughters, Mrs. Charles M. Hazard and Mrs. W. D. McLaughlin, both of Anaheim; one son, Robert Lee Collier of San Diego; two brothers, N. B. Freeman and Paulay F. Freeman, both of Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Signer and Mrs. Louis Mills, both of Kansas and Mrs. Fred Pittman of Lancaster and seven grandchildren.
She was a member of the Anaheim Church of Christ. Rev. Al J. Casebeer officiated at funeral services in Hilgenfeld chapel Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Cpl. Louie Stephens in Fort Benning, Ga.
Cpl. Louie D. Stephens, son of Mr. and Ms. J. D. Stephens, 6922 Savanna St., Anaheim, recently arrived at Fort Benning, Ga., and is now a member of the 3d Infantry Division.
After three years in the Far East, the 3d, nicknamed the "Rock of the Marne" division, is undergoing infantry training at the fort.

A party of about thirty young folks surprised Miss Dora Zeyn on Thursday evening and the result was that the Zeyn mansion was a scene of gayety until far into the night. The affair was one of the social successes of the season.

The south Santa Monica wharf has been completed. It is 1,010 feet in length, twenty feet in width and extends into twenty-four feet of water. There are three thousand sacks of grain at the wharf awaiting shipment.

Capt. Woehrmann to Camp Pendleton
Marine Capt. Robert F. Woehrmann of 1928 Almond dr., Anaheim, reported to Camp Pendleton Aug. 15 for two weeks active duty training under the reserve program.
Before entering the service in March 1951 he was graduated from Valparaiso University.
He is employed by the Orange County Planning Commission at Santa Ana.
Cpl. and Mrs. Robert Malcolm Neff have returned from a honeymoon spent in Virginia and Lake Sand. Minn., and are now at home at 1108 Valencia Dr. Apt. D, Fullerton. She is the former Mary Louise Boswell, daughter of the Thomas H. Boswells of 10331 East Bell Rd. He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Walter Scott Neff of Lake Sands. They were married at the El Tere Marine Base Chapel.
Their many friends in Anaheim will be interested to know that Mr. and Mrs. James Kilduff are the grandparents of Katrina Kathleen Vage was born to Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Kilduff of Cligremont. The senior Kilduffs are now living in Carderville, Nevada.

The cannery had a run on tomatoes yesterday putting up 10,000 cans. The season has not fairly opened, and only a day's run per week has resulted. With continued warm weather Manager Boyd believes he will be able to get started in earnest in two weeks but looks for only one day's run next week. He expects to put from 12,000 to 15,000 cans per day when the season opens.
County Assessor Vegeley and Frank Ey were in town some days ago from Santa Anas. Mr. Ey has just returned after a year's absence in Germany and states he never knew he had so many friends in all sections of this county. Assessor Vegeley says there is nothing doing in politics at the county seat.
L. E. Miller advertises that he has the Malthold roofing in stock. It is highly recommended.
St. Michael's Episcopal church will give a musical and social at the residence of Mrs. Jesc Hattfield on Tuesday evening. Christopher's ice cream and other refreshments will be served.
