Don’ts For Deer Hunters With the coastal deer hunting season getting underway, the Outing Bureau of the Automobile Club of Southern California today listed 10 gun safety rules for hunters and urged them to prevent forest fires. To prevent fires, sportsmen were advised to break matches, crush their cigarettes and drown campfires. For accident prevention, the Club spokesman advised these precautions: 1. Unless you have personally checked a gun, assume that it’s loaded. 2. Always unload guns before carrying them into camp or home. 3. Be sure barrel and action are clear of obstructions; also remove oil and grease from chamber before firing. 4. Be sure of your target before you shoot. 5. Never point a gun at anything you don’t intend to shoot. 6. Carry your gun, “muzzle up” and keep the safety on until you are ready to shoot. 7. Don’t climb a tree or fence or jump a ditch with a loaded gun. 8. Never shoot a bullet at a flat, hard surface or the surface of water. 9. Unattended guns should be unloaded and stored beyond the reach of children. 10. Don’t drink alcoholic beverages before or during the hunt. Anaheim Woman Exhibits Paintings Mrs. S. L. Keith of 1018 W. Broadway is exhibiting her watercolors, pastels and oil paintings at a local restaurant (Dorothy & Wade) during the month of August. Many are landscapes which she painted during vacation travels in the family trailer. Her work with enamel on copper has won many awards. She received formal training at the Maryland Institute of Art and is a member of the Orange County, La Habra and Laguna Art Associations as well as the Festival of Arts Association.
