Bearded Iris is Good Natured
Bearded Iris are such good natured plants and their requirements are so few that many gardeners look upon them as plants for any odd corner, and to be transplanted at any odd time.
The magnificent varieties now in cultivation deserve a better break, however, any translanting which is required should be done as soon as possible after the plants pass out of flower.
Late May and June are ideal times, although the job can be done anytime up to August. An open, well-drained position where they can enjoy full sunshine suits them best. Good drainage is the secret of good growth. Care should be taken not to plant too deeply; the upper surface of the rhizome should be visible above the soil, like a duck "riding water."
FROM CENTRAL AMERICA
No one knows just how the names "African" and "French," got tacked onto marigold for all marigolds come from Central America, just like zinnias. That explains their love of hot weather, and why they're so good for summers here.
Daintier in appearance than familiar domestic geraniums and excellent in the garden, as container subjects and as cut flowers, nurseries usually have a number of varieties of Pelargoniums in four and six-inch pots. Even if you already have a number of Pelargoniums, have a look at your nursery's stock port time...

Even if you already have a number of Pelargoniums, have a look at your nurseryman's stock next time you visit him. You may see some new varieties that will be excellent additions to your collection.
