The magnificent varieties now in cultivation deserve a better break, however, any translanting which is required should be done as soon as possible after the plants pass out of flower. Late May and June are ideal times, although the job can be done anytime up to August. An open, well-drained position where they can enjoy full sunshine suits them best. Good drainage is the secret of good growth. Care should be taken not to plant too deeply; the upper surface of the rhizome should be visible above the soil, like a duck "riding water."
