The above statement is based on a composite of facts released recently by the California Highway Patrol in their annual statistical report. "The records show that 1471 out of 2706 fatal traffic accidents during 1954 occurred at night," declared Patrol Commissioner B. R. Caldwell. "Other interesting facts show that well over half our fatal accidents were caused by excessive speed on the open highway during the week-ends. Fridays, Saturday and Sundays.
