Your NATIONAL GUARD America's oldest military organization, the National Guard, has and in peace for over 300 years. Our country's strongest and reserve, the National Guard—on the ground and in the air—comthan 5,700 organized, equipped and Federally recognized strength of nearly 400,000 officers and enlisted men. Units a more than 2,200 communities in the 48 states, District of ColumPuerto Rico and Alaska. America's oldest military organization, the National Guard has and in peace for over 300 years. Units are more than 2,200 communities in the 48 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Alaska. National Guard training is not limited to armory and field training. Guardsmen attend all active Army and Air Force schools, including over 200 special courses, also state and unit schools. These AA receive intensive practical day Staff Officers Corps. National Guard tankmen, part of the Guard's powerful armored forces, get a National Guard tank set for combat during a recent field encampment mission. The National Guard troop basis includes 5 armored divisions, 22 infantry divisions, 9 regimental combat teams, 9 armored cavalry regiments, 123 antiaircraft artillery battalions and 74 field artillery battalions. National Guard tankmen, part of the Guard's powerful armored forces, get a National Guard tank set for combat during a recent field encampment mission. The National Guard troop basis includes 5 armored divisions, 22 infantry divisions, 9 regimental combat teams, 9 armored cavalry regiments, 123 antiaircraft artillery battalions and 74 field artillery battalions. The National Guard serves in peace as well as in war, since 1946 participated in more than 500 rescue or relief operations during local emergencies and national disasters. Jackson Private funeral services were held last Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars Mortuary for Mrs. Louise A. Jackson, of 16212 Anaheim Road. She passed away Sunday at Los Alamitos Sanitarium at the age of 69 years. Born in Illinois, she had been a resident of Anaheim for the past 40 years. Survivors are her husband, Henry E.; two sons, Robert N. of the home and Henry E. of Orange; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Wilder of Anaheim, and Mrs. Isabel M. Elliott of Orange, and 11 grandchildren. OKLAHOMA VISITORS Mr. and Mrs. C. K. Raines of Shidler, Okla., are in California on a visit with friends and relatives at Long Beach and other cities. Monday afternoon they were Anaheim visitors for a short time, calling on their old friends, Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Nipper of 527 S. Clementine St., and Mr. and Mrs. R. Francis Nipper of 213 E. Water street. Mr. Raines is connected with the Phillips Petroleum Co., and they plan on making their home in California following his retirement in the next 18 months. Assume their duties immediately. Rev. Bob Kevorkian of Baptist Church was electedent; Rev. Harry Stief of Lutheran Church, vice-ment; and Rev. Wayne Davidson of the Assembly of God, secretary-treasurer. After the summer recess, the regular meetings of the Union will be resumed the first Wednesday of each month beginning on September 7.
