SALVATION ARMY READIES CAMPAIGN Anaheim closets and garages contain cast-off clothing and other articles that can bring new hope to homeless and handicapped men. The discards will be sought during the annual Salvation Army Salvage Week campaign here May 23-28 when a special fleet of Red Shield trucks will answer telephone calls from local residents who wish to make donations. The articles will be reconditioned in workshops of the big Salvation Army Social Service Center that serves this area. This process provides a vital rehabilitation program for hundreds of persons. Brigadier William J. Parkins, manager of the center, pointed out that continuance of the program depends upon contributions of carded but still usable articles. The center requires a continuous inflow of used clothing, shampoo, furniture, dishes, mattresses, bedding, kitchen utensils, home appliances, silverware, stoves, rags, rugs, books and bric-a-brac. Brigadier Parkins said all receipts above actual operation costs from sale of reconditioned articles in Salvation Army Stores are returned to the homeless and handicapped. Now, these Bonds earn such good interest that in 9 years, 8 months, they pay you back $4 for every $3 you've put in. No wonder the money piles up fast! Declare Your Financial Independence Remember, when you join Payroll Savings, you're starting to make money with money. And you're building cash power that will help you make even more in the future. It's the surest road to financial independence. Take that road now. Sign for Payroll Savings today! (If you're self-employed, start your own plan by investing regularly in Bonds where you bank.
