Narcotics Use in Orange County Is on Increase
"The use of narcotics is increasing in Orange county and 20 per cent of the users are under 18 years old," Clinton Wright told members of the Junior Ebell club at its March meeting. Wright is in charge of the Narcotics division of the Sheriff's department and the pressure of his work has lately made an assistant necessary. To illustrate his address, he showed an educational film concerning narcotic traffic.
The club also heard R. I. Morris, Orange county director of civilian defense, explain defense measures as they apply locally.
Raymond Terry, president of AUHS board of trustees, stressed the immediate need for additional funds if Anaheim children are to be properly educated as he urged a "yes" vote at the bond elections scheduled for April 5.
Mrs. Virgil Daoust presided.
A St. Patrick's Day theme was used in tea table decorations. Pouring were Mrs. Daoust, Mrs. Loomis, Mrs. Charles Bush and Marlene Anderson Feted at Shower
Two pre-nuptial showers have honored Miss Marlene Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Anderson, 1341 E. La Palma Ave., who will become the bride of Don Meyers, son of Mrs. Florence Tuller, 1269 Florida Place, on April 9.
The first was given by Mrs. Roy Newkirk and daughter, Shirley, of Orange. The second was given by Mrs. Lon Sloan and Mrs. V. G. Kleinworth of Anaheim at the Sloan home, at 518 Grove Avenue.

Dinner Dance to Benefit Children Of This Area
The Northern Orange County branch of the Childrens' Home Society met last Thursday at the home of Mrs. Claude Owens, 822 Jade Way. Co-hostesses for the luncheon which preceded the business meeting were Mrs. Stanley Loudon, and Mrs. George Fowler.
The Magnolia ball to be held at the Balboa Bay club on June 3 was discussed. The yearly benefit sponsored by the society is to be a formal dinner dance by invitation. Mrs. Wyatt King is chairman in charge of tickets, and Mrs. Robert Loomis, hostesses; Mrs. Stanley Loudon, decorations; Mrs. Betty Neighbors, public relations; Mrs. Max Besler, invitations; Mrs. Hunter Piper, guest list; and Mrs. George Fowler, publicity. Mrs. Samuel Gendel presided at the discussion.
