LEGAL NOTICES (Pub. Anaheim Gazette, Jan. 20, 27, 1955) NOTICE OF AWARD OF CONTRACT Pursuant to Statutes herein mentioned and Resolution of Award of Contract No. 26 of the STANTON COUNTY WATER DISTRICT, of Orange County, California, adopted on the 13th day of January, 1955, directing this Notice. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the said Board of Directors, in open session on the 13th day of January, 1955, publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed proposals or bids offered for doing the following described work, to-wit: The construction of vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewer certified clay pipe house sewer connections chimneys clean-outs, tees, wyes, drop manholes, manholes, modified manholes, sewer encasement pipe, concrete encasement, and appurtenant work in connection therewith in Date Street and other streets and easements within the STANTON COUNTY WATER DISTRICT known as "Assessments District No. 1" - Stanton County Water District." For such particulars, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 21, and to the plans, profiles and drawings on file in the office of the secretary of said STANTON COUNTY WATER DISTRICT and to the specifications for the said work, heretofore adopted by the said Board of Directors and on file in the office of the Secretary of said District and all of the said plans, profiles, drawings and specifications heretofore approved by the Board of Directors of said District are incorporated herein and made a part hereof, and reference is hereby made thereto for more particular description of said work. Said Board of Directors has determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement, heretofore mentioned was in the opinion of said Board of Directors, of more than local or ordinary public benefit and the said Board of Directors has made the expense of said work chargeable upon a district for the particular description of said distribution is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 21. Said Board of Directors has determined and declared that Serial Bonds bearing interest at the rate of six per cent (6%) per annum and extending over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the next October 15th following their date, will be issued hereunder in the manuscript provided by the Improvement Act of 1911, being Part 5, Division 7, of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, to represent each assessment of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) or more, remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of recording the warrant. All of the work herein ordered shall done and carried through in pursuance of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California designated the "Improvement Act of 1911." being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, as said Act is referred to and made applicable in the "County Water District Law." being Division 12 of the Water Code of the State of California. The said Board of Directors did, by said Resolution of Award of Contract No. 26, award the contract for the doing of said work to the lowest, regular responsible bidder, to wit: to Jerry Artukovich, 723 Union Street, Montebello, California at the prices named in his bid on file in the office of the Secretary of said District. AUXILIARY ANNOUNCEMENT CALENDAR Irene Brown presided at a recent meeting of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary when the future calendar of events was announced. The first was the district meeting held at Chapman house in Fullerton on Sunday, Jan. 16. The second event, a welfare project, was held Monday evening, Jan 17, when members gathered at the VFW hall to sew on articles requested by the Long Beach Veterans hospital. Florence Carrol, chairman of the February benefit, announced that the affair will be a card party to aid the organization's cancer fund. In the recent attendance contest, the group led by senior vice-president, Ivy Ryan, lost to Cecile Baxter's group and will treat the winners to dinner and an evening of games sometime in February, the date to be set later.
