Teacher Speaks to Junior Ebell Club "Never offer more than one opinion in an evening if you are striving to be a good conversationist" members of the Anaheim Junior Ebell Society were told last week in an address entitled, "Social Graces and the art of being a real person" given by Miss Margaret Varnum, teacher at Valencia High school. The interesting self-betterment program touched on tipping, correspondence, easy introductions, and correct service of tea, luncheon and dinner, as well as the gentle art of being a good friend. Mrs. Virgil Daoust presided and gave the welcome to four new members who were introduced by Mrs. Britt Gray. Latest to join are Miss Margaret Block, Miss Gene Marie Laughlin, Mrs. Jo Zimmerman and Mrs. Edgar Kearn. The emphasis this year will be on welfare, with the club goal being attendance of each member at at least one welfare section meeting during the year. The girls at the Orange County Juvenile Hall will be the club's welfare project. Ways and means chairman Mrs. John Heinz expressed thanks to the merchants, local business men and others who supported the recent Kidnap Breakfast so well. Mrs. Wallace Dedic was designated reservation chairman for the Orange County Federation meeting for Dec. 1 at 8 p.m., in Brea. Mrs. Mark Stephenson, Mrs. Charles Bush, Mrs. Virgil Daoust, and Mrs. George Fowler presided at the two beautifully appointed tea tables. Mrs. Loren Wagner was hostess Shower Is Held For Bride-Elect. Mrs. Lyle Keenlack, Irene Dierberger and Miss Dierberger honored their Miss Betty Dierberger, who bridal shower at the Dierbergh home at 12402 E Vermont past week. Orangethorpe P-TA Information Course Is Held in Homes The October meeting of the Orangethorpe PTA board started with the introduction of three new board members. Mrs. Jack Flakin will be assistant hospitality chairman, Mrs. Al Campbell Juvenile protection and legislation chairman, and Mrs. Bob McDuell, assistant publicity chairman. President Mrs. Stanley McCartney explained that the November PTA meeting, the annual open house, is expected to be the biggest meeting of the year with the accent on get-acquainted social hour. Announcement was made of a parent-teacher information course to be held in the homes of members on Nov. 17 and 24. Exclusively for elementary school parents will be a similar series on Nov. 15, 22 and 29. At the conclusion of the board meeting, hostess Mrs. John Barren and co-hostess Mrs. Edward Dunn served a delicious lunch featuring salad, rolls, cake and coffee. Church Women Fete Official Visitor Mrs. Arthur Korn and Mrs. Forest Simonton represented the Anaheim Council of Church Women at an afternoon tea recently, when the national president, Mrs. James D. Wyker was honored in Los Angeles. Mrs. Rajah Monikan who made a tour of eastern Asia for the organization was an honored guest. "Gold" Chevirolets Go on Display In a salute to the General Motors Golden CARnival, 5000 "gold" Chevirolets will go on display at dealer showrooms across the country Nov. 23, at Cone Bros., Chevirolet in Anaheim. Appearance of the especially finished cars is planned concurrent with the assembly of the corporation's 50,000,000 vehicle. The milestone model will be a Chevirolet sport coupe and form the basis for a celebration in GM's "home town" of Flint, Mich., and other plant cities which have contributed to the amazing production record. Additionally to commemorate the day, Chevirolet has scheduled "open houses" at 24 of Chevirolet's assembly and manufacturing plants across the country. Visiting hours have been set from 1 to 9 p.m., with groups to be directed on guided tours. Souvenir booklets and gold-colored medallions are to be distributed.
