JAMES B. UTT SAYS—
"As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, the 1954 Social Security bill came before me. In committee the record will show that I supported ALL of the amendments recommended by the President, with one exception: that of including Farmers and Professional men, which I contend should be included on a voluntary basis, rather than to be compulsory.
"I voted to send the bill to the House debate. I cast one vote against the bill time. The bill then went to the Senate and objectionable features were removed by When it came back to the House for PASSAGE. I VOTED FOR IT."
"DON'T BE DECEIVED by my opponent of taking something out of context and c you by not giving you the whole story."

Beauville—One of Four Chevrolet Station Wagons
Steadily increasing popularity of the station wagon has prompted Chevrolet to offer four bodies of this type in its 1955 line. Models are both two- and four-door and styled with the "lower, longer look" that promises to create a new standard of automotive beauty. The Chevrolet announcement reveals that two new station wagons will be included in the "One-Fifty" and "Two-Ten" series. Few station wagons are listed in the "Two-Ten" and Bel Air series others in the 1955 line, the fleet of station wagons may be six-cylinder engines or the new V8. Pictured above is Bel Air Beauville Station Wagon.

It's Prosperity Insurance!
Proposition 5 renews a 40-year old law exempting home-owned ships from personal property tax levies that can't be assessed against foreign and out-of-State ships.
California ships could not compete, tax-wise, without this protection, and in many cases would be forced to seek registry in other ports, spending there the many millions of dollars for repairs and provisioning now spent in California.
A healthy shipping industry is vital to California's prosperity. Shipping furnished jobs for 20,000 Californians last year with a payroll of more than 100 million dollars! Every county in every section of the State benefits in terms of wider markets and better prices for products, more business volume, more stability, more job protection.
Everybody favors Proposition 5: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party, the Farm Bureau Federation, the State Federation of Labor, the State Chamber of Commerce, the California Federation of Women's Clubs and scores of other civic, labor, business, women's and patriotic organizations.
Post 3173 was escorted into the meeting with honors to deliver a message from the Post.
Final plans for a visit from the second district president, Beulah Roberts, were made. Irene Brown presided. Refreshments were served by Ivy Ryan and her committee.
