Plans are going forward to furnish a room at the St. Jude hospital, as well as to assist with the Community Chest and Red Cross campaigns. Each member is pledged to give 52 hours of work a year and in past years, most have exceeded this figure. Mrs. Joe Thompson has completed her provisional membership and was taken into the League as an active member on Thursday. Other business included the decision to join the Orange County Council of Community agencies and to withdraw the option on the purchase of the Truxaw property for a permanent clubhouse. Assisting Mrs. Wilson as hostesses were Mrs. Charles Harbeson, Mrs. W. Barnett, and Mrs. Ben Kaulbars. Tipplers to Enjoy Extra Hour of Fog Wm. G. Bonelli, Fourth District member of the State Board of Equalization, reminds liquor licenses that although the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, which regulates California’s liquor industry, declares all licensed premises must be closed at 2 a.m., they can remain open for one additional hour when 2 a.m., arrives on Sunday, September 26. At that time, Bonelli informs them, Daylight Saving Time is discarded. Clocks are to be set back one hour and sales of alcoholic beverages may continue until 2 a.m., when Standard Time arrives. Liquor licensed premises lost an hour of business at 1 a.m., on Sunday, April 25, when Daylight Saving Time began and clocks were set ahead one hour. On September 26 that lost hour will be returned.
