Chambers Wins Toastmaster Trophy
William Chambers won the weekly trophy for his talk on the Community Chest in last week's meeting of the Anaheim Toastmasters club. Toastmaster was Britt Grey with Jim Lepper general chairman.
Other speakers were Bob Dickey, Jack Goodell, Ray Damerell and Hal Johnson. Evaluators were R. J. Allen, Mel Mungerson, Tom Lennen Walter Knott, Dr. Gay Brown and William Lenahan.
Table topic chairman was C. O. Garshwiler. The invocation was given by Ed Wright. Special guests were J. O. Faulkner and R. Townsend.
The local club entertained their ladies at a second steak fry picnic on Monday evening.
LOCAL ORANGE MAN TO NEW POST
Kent A. Fish, owner and general manager of Orange Cove Orange Growers, an affiliate of Mutual Orange Distributors, of Redlands, announces the appointment of Ray Anderson, former manager of Garden Grove Orange Cooperative, Garden Grove, Calif., as assistant manager, in charge of the Citrus Department and the promotion of Elmo Higham to assistant manager and secretary of the corporation, effective immediately.
Anderson was formerly fruit supply supervisor for Real Gold Citrus Products, Anaheim, processing subsidiary of Mutual Orange Distributors, when that firm was active in the citrus concentrate field. He first entered the citrus industry in 1920 as foreman in the Garden Grove packing-house. In 1928 he left to spend a year in South America, assisting

CHRISTMAS PARTY
IS HELD IN JULY
Members of the WSCS of White Temple Methodist church met Thursday, July 15. Luncheon was served in the church dining hall by the Tessner circle after the prayer meeting, led by Mrs. Chas. Rinchart.
Mrs. Cleta Terrill, director of the David and Margaret Home for children, addressed the group on the topic, "Our Concern for Children."
The day-long event took as its theme, "A Christmas Party in July," with everyone bringing gifts for the children at the home.
It's a girl for Mr. and Mrs. John Cox of 1934 Redwood street, an 8 lb. 6 oz. infant daughter arrived in St. Joseph hospital on July 10.
Jack Conner of 226 Susan St., is passing the cigars. His wife presented him with an 8 lb. 9 oz. baby boy in St. Joseph hospital on July 10.
Mr. and Mrs. Milton Armstron of 11221 Lincoln St., welcomed a 6'lb. 8 oz. baby boy in Fullerton Cottage hospital on July 13.

Mrs. Lavantia Leep
Mrs. Lavantia M. Leep, 89, native Iowa who, with her parents, moved to Nebraska at the age of 13, and to Anaheim in 1916, and has made her home at 217 S. Clementine street, died early Saturday morning, July 17, after an extended illness.
She is survived by one son, Walter E. Leep of Anaheim; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Yorba of Santa Ana Canyon; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Walter E. Leep and Mrs. Bessie Leep both of Anaheim; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Anaheim Church of Christ.
Funeral services were conducted from the Hilgenfeld chapel Tuesday at 2 o'clock. Rev. Al Casebeer, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiated and burial was made in the family plot in the Anaheim cemetery.
BIBLE SCHOOL BEGINS
Vacation Bible school began at First Presbyterian church on Monday, July 19 and will continue five days a week from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m., through July 30. Local youngsters are invited to attend.
The annual picnic has been scheduled by First Presbyterian church for Saturday, July 24 and will begin at 2:00 p.m., at Irvine Park. The Ladies Aid picnic will be held at La Palma park on Thursday, July 29.
