Mrs. Walter Taylor was general chairman with Mrs. Warren Hodges in charge of refreshments; Mrs. Elwood Cordes, table decorations; Mrs. Willard Olding room arrangements; Mrs. George Kohlenberger, music; and Mrs. Carl Lemcke and Mrs. George Watts, programmes.
Refreshment table featured traditional coach and horses, with a dainty ceramic Cinderella riding in the coach, the entire arrangement flanked with white camellias. Punch and cookies were served throughout the evening, with various members of the Women's Committee serving at the punch bowl.
Esorted Through Archway
Center of interest in the ball room was a tall garden archway, twined with ivy, and pink camellias. Cinderella was escorted through the archway by Mrs. Alice Schmid, and brought with her Prince Charming, Mike Gerbar, to the platform. Here she was crowned with the permanent Cinderella Crown by Mrs. Nan Moore, Girls' Work Secretary, and instructed to wear her crown until Midnight, at which time the crown was returned, and will be preserved to be worn by Miss Cinderella of 1955. As a keepsake of her reign Miss Fechter was then presented with a glass slipper.
Ernie Rojas and his band from Orange Coast College provided the music for the ball, which has become the most popular event of the high school year. Members of the Women's Committee and their husbands were all present, and acted as chaperones. Approximately 175 youthful couples attended.

NATIONAL GUARD, MONDAY
National Guard 224th Infantry meeting in basement of City Hall, 7:30 p.m., Monday night, Mch. 29.
"Registered voters in Orange county should read the fine print before they sign any initiative petition," California Taxpayers' association said today.
Currently, the McLain old age 'pension' promotion forces are circulating initiative petitions which would freeze in the state constitution payments to the needy aged in California of $100 a month," the association said.
Payments to the 5,738 people receiving aid as needy aged in the county during January, 1954, averaged $68.09 per person, with total payments for the month in the county amounting to $390,710.
This state already is paying out more in aid to the aged than are Illinois, New York, and Pennsylvania combined, the association said.
California's 271,334 case load during January was just slightly under the 273,395 total of the rolls for Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania.
If enough people sign the McLain petition to get it on the ballot this coming November and if the voters should be hoodwinked into passing it, the added cost could drain dry the state's already heavily burdened treasury," the Taxpayers' association said, pointing out that the present law sets $80 per month as a maximum for aid to the needy aged, with the $69.12 statewide average for January. The McLain initiative petitions currently circulating propose $100 a month.
