Everyday you get dollars worth of pennies worth of electricity!
Electricity brings you entertainment from everywhere, right in your home. It provides perfect light to read by, anywhere and any time, telephone conversations with friends, and countless other things for you to enjoy every day. You take these pleasures for granted, but a visitor to your house from the days before electricity would find them hard to believe. He would imagine them to be possible only at tremendous cost, if at all.
Your visitor would be amazed to know that you pay just a few pennies a day for all the electricity used in your home.
Luxury costs so little, electrically!
Prison Deaconess Spoke Sunday
Miss Edith Curl, Methodist Church deaconess appointed to work with the prisoners at the Federal Penitentiary at Terminal Island in Los Angeles Harbor, spoke at White Temple Methodist church at 7 o'clock Sunday evening, describing the problems of the Mexican "wetbacks." Her work is to be the counselor to immigrants detained at the Federal prison.
From this close-range vantage-point she has made a study of the factors that cause Mexican nationals to "sneak" into the United States without permission, and will describe their personal and family problems.
Topic Timely
"In the light of the recent riots at the border, this address is a timely contribution to our School of Missions," states the pastor, Rev. Frank E. Butterworth. The church is making a study of the Spanish-speaking Americans in four Sunday night study-sessions following the services. All ages, from Primary Dept. to adults, are studying the problems of the Mexican-Americans, using graded study materials which are published by the inter-denominational Missionary Education Movement.
