Youth Legislators Sacramento Bound
A fine group of young people have been chosen to represent Anaheim and the local "Y" as YMCA Model Legislators on the Youth-in-Government program slated in Sacramento Feb. 17-21, according to Mrs. Nan Moore, local YMCA Girls' Work secretary.
In their respective capacities they will be: Reynette Wallace, Secretary of the Senate; Jim Moore, as Senator; Chamblee Schmid, Ann Betts, Caroline Miller, Roger Pinkstaff as Assessor; Zoe Fort, Marilyn Richter, Jan Critchfield, Gloria Taylor, Clara Walker as Delegate Training and four others go on observers: Marilyn Koontz, Helen Roberts, Barbara Olsen, Eileen Bruhns.

The annual reciprocity lunchcon of PEO Chapters of Orange County will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, at 12:30 p.m., in the Huntington Beach Memorial hall.
With Helicopter Group in Japan
HANSHIN, Japan — Marine PFC Robert L. Sieward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph A. Sieward of 754 N. West st., Anaheim, Calif., is serving with Marine Helicopter Group 16 of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing.
While at Hanshin the group is perfecting the Marine Corps developed system of supporting amphibious landings by helicopter.
Combat readiness is maintained by constant training in the techniques of night and day evacuation of wounded and the air-lifting of troops, equipment and supplies.

Dr. and Mrs. E. H. Kersten, 311 N. West st., gave a dinner party on December 28 for Dr. Kersten's former Navy associates who now live in Southern California. Three of the Kersten boys spent the holidays with their parents. David arrived home from Marquette University at Milwaukee, Wis., Jim from Occidental and Dan from USC.
Mr. and Mrs. L. I. Ferrell and mother, Mrs. Mamie Williams, enjoyed a recent visit at the home of Mrs. Ferrell's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Rodgers, 13371 E. North street.
Mr. and Mrs. John Bestall were hosts at a recent family dinner party at their home at 12262 Orangewood Ave. Enjoying traditional festivities were Mr. and Mrs. E. S Williamson of Anaheim, Mrs. Leesa Greggson and children on Rosemead and Miss Pauline Guthrie of Alhambra.
Mrs. Irene Huff, formerly residing at 820 N. Palm st., has left Anaheim for San Jose where she plans to keep house for her brother in that city.
Anaheim residents recently honored by many friends attending the housewarmings in their new homes were, respectively, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fox of 801 Jade Way and Mrs. Amelia Steffens of 303 W. Broadway.
Former residents of Anaheim who have returned here to live are Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Lee, 10192 Orange st., and Mrs. Berthel Lemons now residing at 416 S. Olive st.
New Assistant In Farm Bureau
The Orange County Farm reau announces that John Lewis, recently from Carlisle City, Kentucky, has been secured by the organization's new secretary taking the post via R. L. Hepler, Orange, who become a field secretary for state Farm Bureau with a troy of the five southernmostties of California.
Harris, his wife and chlive in Santa Ana. A bomber in World War II, farmer and five Farm Bureau member in tucky, Harris has served member of Carlisle County Bureau board of directors, commander of his American gion post and also a membler of Junior Chamber of Commerce State Board of Directors.
His duties with the Farm bureau will consist largely of tactics with the membership of farm group in expediting its with commodity groups and utilizing membership activities.

Mrs. Gertrude A. Riordan
Passing away in St. Joseph hospital, January 3, Mrs. Gertrude A. Riordan, 75, born in Illinois, made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Cecelia Morton, 7282 Baxter st., Anaheim. Her Illinois residence was in Kempton.
Besides Mrs. Morton, she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Koletta Schlenz, Compton; Mrs. Clementine MacKay, Toledo, Ohio and Mrs. Clarisse Diefenbach of Kempton, Illinois; four grandchildren.
Interment, in the family plot in Cullom, Ill., was made through Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary.
Green in Germany
28TH DIV., GERMANY—Pvt. Darrell G. Green whose wife, Millie, and father, Herbert N. Green, live on Route 1, Anaheim, Calif., recently joined the 28th Infantry Division in Germany.
The 28th Division is undergoing intensive training as part of the NATO Army on guard in western Europe.
A former employee of the Cal-Metal Corp., in Torrance, Calif., Private Green entered the Army last July and completed basic training at Fort Ord, Calif.

Russell Ireland, interior decorator for Smith-Reafsyndy Furniture Co., discussed fabrics and window treatments and illustrated his talk with samples of materials and color slides at a meeting of the Jean Circle of White Temple Methodist church on Tuesday evening when the group met at the home of Mrs. Paul Davir, 511 No. Clementine, on January 12.

Snow Party Set For This Weekend
Today (Jan. 14) is the deadline for Crescendo club members to make reservations for the Idyll wild snow party planned for this coming week-end. Host couples are Mr. and Mrs. Bob Turner, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Symonds, and Mr. and Mrs. R. Solomon. The group will begin their annual trek to the Kiwanis Cabin at 7 o'clock Saturday morning, returning late Sunday afternoon.
MISSIONARY GIVES TALK
Miss Adelaide Martin, a teacher in the lands of Burma, Inla, and Malaya for 15 years addressed the congregation of White Temple Methodist church on Sunday evening, Jan. 10 on the current conflict between Christianity and Communism in southeast Asia.
Following the evening service, she addressed the High School MYF., demonstrating costumes of these lands and telling the story of her escape afoot across the Himalaya mountains during the Japanese invasion of Burma.
TO MARRY JANUARY 29
Donald Arthur Nielsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nielsen of Anaheim will marry Miss Ann Laverne Edwards on January 29 in the Presbyterian church of Orange. His fiancee is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bascomb Edwards of the Irvine Cattle Ranch. The bridegroom-elect is an education major at Long Beach State College.
KORN HUSKERS PARTY
The Korn Huskers 4-H club members recently met in the Pletz residence on Ball Road. Leaders Mr. and Mrs. Carl Korn were presented with an electric coffee maker; assistant leaders, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pletz, received a floor lamp and the Holland boys gave each couple an enlarged colored photo of the group's prize winning Fair booth.
An evening of games followed. Joan Perry and Clada Pletz served "snow balls" and candy canes for refreshments.

Robert C. Kirkwood, Chairman, Franchise Tax Board, reminds all employers of their responsibility to file Information Returns with the State Income Tax Division reporting payments to their employees during 1953. Information Return. Form 599, just be filed for each single employee who was paid $2,000 or more and each married employee who was paid $3,500 or more.
The Forms 599 must be accompanied by Form 596 and filed with the Income Tax Division on or before Monday, February 15, 1954. Information concerning the filing of these forms may be obtained from the Franchise Tax Board at Sacramento, or from the office at 206 State Building, First and Broadway, Los Angeles.
On Korea Duty
IX CORPS, KOREA—Pvt. Paul Moisi, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe A. Moisi Jr., 7272 S. Placentia blvd., Amheim, Calif., recently arrived in Korea for duty with IX Corps' 212th Military Police Company.
The corps, one of three in Korea, coordinates the intensive post-truce training and reconditioning of UN units under its control.
A former student at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles; Private Molisi entered the Army last May and completed basic training at Camp Roberts, California.
