8 Anaheim Gazette THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 1953 ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA Thirty-four Initiated into Jr. Ebell Society at Last Meeting Thirty-three new members and one transfer were initiated into the Junior Ebell society last week when the regular monthly meeting was held at the clubhouse. Mrs. Norman Watson, president of the Orange County Junior Women's clubs, assisted by Mrs. Gene Newton and Mrs. Glen Lehmer, inducted the new members with an impressive ceremony. Each received a lovely corsage. Presiding at the meeting was Mrs. Jack Suiter who welcomed club members both old and new. Business included the outlining of section plans for the month, the awarding of special gifts, and several reports. A mixed card party will be held on Tuesday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m., with tables planned for bridge and canasta. Tickets are priced at $1.00 and reservations may be made before November 14 by calling Keystone 5-3521. Federation chairman Mrs. Leighton Miller told of the recent reciprocity day at Newport Beach and announced dates of the Palm Springs convention. The discussion of crime detection by Jack Cadman, criminologist of the Orange County Sheriff's department, was the highlight of the meeting. An expert through training and experience, Cadman gave case histories to illustrate the ways in which his office operates to protect the innocent and bring the guilty to justice. Tommy Taylor, investigator for the Anaheim Police Department, will explain the narcotics situation in this area. A special invitation to attend has been issued to all fathers of Lincoln school children. The sixth grade room mothers will be hostesses. Relief Society Sponsors Bazaar A pre-Christmas Bazaar sponsored by the Latter-Day Saints Relief Society will be held at the Optimist club house, 113 W. Char-tres, beginning at 5:30 p.m., tomorrow, Friday 13. Among the many gift items to go on sale are ceramics, art needlework, baby clothes, children's clothing, hand-painted men's ties, aprons, Christmas cards and gift wrappings. Both hot and cold foods will be served and a cooked food sale will feature home-made bread, rolls, cakes and pie. Anaheim Altrusa Club Celebrates Sixth Birthday on Monday Night The Anaheim Altrusa club celebrated its sixth birthday on Monday night. All charter members were there with the exception of Fay Cotler and Edith Holsinger. Lizarraga, Helen Kaulbars, Dorothy Parker, Hildred Ferrell and Carrie Lou Southerland. As the organization's first president, Hildred Ferrell was surprised with a "This is Your life" reading by Pearl Wagner who traced the highlights of her life from the beginning. Marguerite Coons did the same for Carrie Lou Southerland. Altrusa's second president: Cora Prather of Santa Ana who organized the group six years ago was on hand to tell of her experiences and to offer congratulations for the fine progress shown. She stressed that Altrusa is a service club which gives equal representation in membership to business owners, professional, and executive women. President Helen Mitchell conducted the board meeting which preceded dinner at the Elks club and Dorpthy Dickens chairman, presented a day cake she had baked casion at the conclusion program. The next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, November 18, will be a joint meeting with the Business and Professional Womens club, and it will be guest night as well for both clubs. Pre-ruptial Shower Honors Mary Sesma Miss Mary Sesma was honored with a preuptial bridal shower on Saturday evening by her aunt Mrs. Edward L. Bain of 903 E. Center st. Co-hostess at the delightful affair in the Bain home was Mrs. Frank L. Navarro. Miss Sesma is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Sesma of Anaheim and will become the bride of Edward Roberts on Nov. 21 at St. Boniface church. The bride-elect was showered with many pretty wrapped presents as guests enjoyed a social evening of conversation. The living room was decorated with bouquets of chrysanthemums from the Bain garden. At refreshment time, guests had a choice of five different kinds of home-made cake which were served with jello, coffee and punch. Among those attending the party, were H. H. Roberts (mother of the bridegroom-elect), Mrs. Manuel Sesma, Mrs. J. Jimenez, Mrs. Joseph Lehr, Mrs. Peter Lehrr, Mrs. G. Johnson, Mrs. E. Murillo, Mrs. J. Shower Honors Janet Isbell A lovely bridal shower was given for Miss Janet Isbell on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Phillip Boettcher, 415 Parkway. Sharing hostess duties with Mrs. Boettcher were Mrs. Kenneth Vertrees, Mrs. Paul Jungkeit and daughter, Miss June Carol Jungkelt. Miss Isbell will wed Everett Livingston of Colorado on November 16 in Bethel Baptist church. Thirty-five members of the church choir and her missionary circle attended the shower to wish her well. Game prizes were won by Mios Nancy Bressel of Santa Ana and Miss Jeannette Koss. A yellow, white and green color scheme was used throughout the evening and a delicate pineapple dessert was served at refreshment time. After a brief stay in St. Joseph hospital, Mrs. Harold Stadge and infant daughter are at the family home at 1267 E. Sycamore st. The baby was born on Nov . 4 and weighed 7 lbs.
